Hating from most of AGS....

Post by Catfan2030 » Mon Nov 20, 2006 9:46 pm

I have been reading a lot of posts over at AGS the past couple days and we are getting no respect over there at all. I read a couple good posts about why we should be in, then an onslaught of negatives come up. Anybody else have anything worth noting over there? Well either way we are in and will prove our reason for being in the Playoffs. GO CATS!!!!

That's why our team needs to prove that we belong. They must win this weekend!

Most definately!!! I just wish that we could get a few more congrats on the invite instead of everybody hating us but whatever...they will soon learn why we were chosen.

I've noticed that as well and I agree, just need to prove it on Saturday.

Also, an additional thanks to all the Griz fans on AGS who have had the Cats backs in almost every one of those threads. We may have lost on Saturday, but it seems like the Cats earned alot of respect from even the rival fans for their tough play!

We really can't pee down our legs in this game. When we traveled to both Northern Iowa and McNeese State in our last playoff outings, we looked absolutely spent and pathetic. This year we have the advantage of playing at home and being relatively healthy. Let's pack the house, beat Furman, and show that we belong!

I was expecting two teams in from the BSC because of the respect for it.

The negative posts are coming from those with a definite bias, which is not unexpected on AGS. There are the normal blowhards, ala Ronbo on egriz, but on a nationwide basis. Obviously there are others who feel their toes were stepped on either because they missed out or they didn't like the home designations, etc.

I have seen little negativity from the Furman folks and those making their first round picks have MSU & Furman pretty even- I think it'll be a great game and may the best team win.

We always do better as a lightly regarded underdog than as a prohibitive favorite. The disrespect is a good sign!

I am another griz fan also pulling for and defending the cats. I too posted at AGS on your behalf. Good luck GRIZ and CATS, lets meet in Chattanooga.

Come on guys, would you be happy if we were 8-3 vs good I-AA competition and had to travel all the way the S.C. to play a team with a DII loss and a home blowout, at 7-4?

There is a lot of hating going on at AGS, but a good deal of it has at least a little merit. As Celtic states, I'd be ticked off if I were Furman right now and was looking at this trip. I also think that No. Iowa has a legitimate beef (VERY similar season to MSU, 7-4 with a loss to a very respectable DII team. They're complaining just like we would if they got in and we were staying home). However, probably the most telling thread on AGS is a poll asking basically who got snubbed by being left out of the playoffs. Over 50% of the responses have been "No one. If you go 7-4, you take your chances." So, I think it's safe to say that most of the people don't have a huge problem with MSU getting in over someone else, it's just that those who do have a problem with it are opening their mouths.

Celtic,

That wouldn't happen to us thanks to all us loyal fans who show up 13000 strong every week.

If Furman wants a home game, build a bigger stadium & pack the house!

They have a bigger stadium than you! 16,000. Isn't it fun to buy a home playoff game.

Go Cats
Go Saints
Go Griz!

I always tried to stay out of the smack (not sure if I suceeded ;)) about the Griz buying playoff games for this exact reason. Always hoped that given the chance MSU would do the exact same thing.

And to steal the rest of your post...

Go Cats!
Go Griz!
Go Saints!

Let's make it a three game sweep for MT teams! (Too bad Northern had to play Carroll last week, or maybe we could have had four in!)
