our qb renaldo gray and fullback jerome felton have been slowed due to ankle injuries (gray intermittently during the year-left our last game injured AND felton at the end of the year). we have been very inconsistent all year. our best game was against unc when we lost 45-42. our offense has been all down hill since that game. we have not scored a TD in the second half in FIVE games in a row (excluding one in overtime to win a game). i like your chances at home. in greenville, it might have been a different story, but we will never know about that. we are truly limping into the playoffs and i am not sure you will see a TYPICAL FURMAN team. time will tell.

I smell something fishy here matfu...! You aren't trying to get BobcatNation all excited about playing a "weak" team are you???

matfu is telling the truth. Also, we have been consistent in our won/loss record: wwl, wwl, wwl,ww?
That is to say we win 2 and lose one for 8-3 record. Guess what's next in that pattern?

I am not buying it either and I know the players and coaches wont fall for the possum routine.

This is not sandbagging. FU has a great team and a great tradition with three NC game appearances. However, check 1aawaves or Matt Dougherty and they all talk about our 'rash of injuries'. As you will read elsewhere our key guy is Felton (a real NFL prospect at FB) and he has been gimpy as has our center and QB. Hard to work an I formation (and we are a running team) when your center, QB and FB are all out or hurt. I hope for a fairly healthy FU team. Also just a fact and not sandbaggin' - we have won 13 in a row at home (including App State's only 1aa loss last year) but are 2-3 on the road this year :(

Then you will be comforted to know that the Cats are 4-1 on the road, and only 3-3 at home. And those 3 wins at home were squekers!

we have just not been as good as the last two years. without the injuries, i think we could be 10-1 (we lost to north carolina 45-42 while healthy). the app state game snowballed when we were at the 18 yard line with 2 minutes left in the half tied 7-7. we kicked a fg, it was blocked and app state ran it back 80 plus yards just before half and that was all she wrote.

i cannot imagine a worse draw having to come play you all in the first round. we were almost certain that app state would be our second round opponent because of regionalization. what a tought bracket! playing in boone is tough (we have been jinxed there the last few years BUT i can't imagine it being as bad as when you all go to montana). so if you beat us i truly think you would have a chance against app state.

i am afraid our injuries will do us in and i hate it that i guess i will have to listen to the game on the radio. the only GOOD thing is to learn a little more about big sky football which i already respect and know is good.

Football is a game of matchups and not just talent :
You are indeed not a good draw for Furman - we are a running team and we stop the run. You seem to move the ball through the air and have a good run D. We would much rather you be a running team and have a good pass D.
