Couldn't fight past our weaknesses today...

Post by GavinDonos » Sat Nov 18, 2006 4:39 pm

Our weaknesses really cost us today. Poor punt unit gave the Griz the doorstep all day. Lame offense failed to impress for the millionth time this year. Against ****** teams we can fight through that garbage and pull out close ones but against real competition these same weaknesses bite our ass.

Same ****** but different result as we got caught with our pants down today.

Good job by the D. Thanks for the memories, seniors.

On to BBall

I am sorry, but it wasn't that bad. I think the offense did well. Honest to god, did you see all of the time Rolo's guys gave him? I don't know. It was a good fight. Would be better if we got into the playoffs...we could really go somewhere. :)

I'm not sure which game people were watching but I thought it was incredibly sloppy. The O-line played solid but Rolo is inaccurate and Jefferson played with his head up his ass. And the play calling sucked. The defense did what they had to do.

I've finally come to the point where I could post about this game.

The offense overall was absolutely anemic. The offensive line did well enough, but somebody has to catch the ball, run the ball, and make plays. The Grizzly defense deserves a lot of credit, but we had to move the ball. Michael Jefferson turned out to be two flashes in the pan this season, and if a Bobcat can't be prepared to play his best game against the Grizzlies with a chance to go to the playoffs, he does not deserve to be a Bobcat. You can't turn over the ball four times, either. Fortunately, that didn't bite us. And for once, I'm going to call out the offensive playcalling. If it's 3rd and 1, don't line up in the shotgun; get the 1 yard and keep rolling.

The defense was stellar today, and played like they wanted to win. Bobcat fans should be proud of this unit. I just feel awful that this group won't get to play again. The defense made every stop on a short field they were handed. They made every big play, got 3 turnovers, blocked a field goal, and were let down by the offense. The special teams were also decent, but WE NEED A REGULAR PUNTER!!! Give up the f***ing roll punt already!

The stupid penalties and extra shoving after the play has to stop, both Cats and Griz alike.

This is just the rantings of a very disappointed Bobcat fan right now. It kills me that there won't be a playoff game here next week, and I doubt there will be one anywhere for the Bobcats. And now we get to be at home for Thanksgiving, watching the Grizzlies roll with their homefield to the National Championship. It was time to take the next step and get to the postseason by winning 8 games. And for this Bobcat fan, I'm more angry that we won't play again this season than about the loss to the Grizzlies.

There were a lot of positives to this season. Almost all of the Cats played their guts out and with tons of heart, and fell short in their gritty efforts. It should also be said that crawling back into the race after digging a 1-3 hole is absolutely amazing and it took some great efforts from the Bobcats. I'm proud of my guys, but this is going to be a really, really hard pill to swallow. I'll probably post the positives of the season in a few days. But for now, as hard as this is to say, congratulations to the Grizzlies.

I just wish we were there, too. :kicksrock:

Why don't you go back to egriz and ruin there board? Do you honestly believe the cats couldn't have won any of the games that they lost? Maybe you didn't catch the game today.

Alright, everybody cool off a bit and let's get this one back on topic. VictorG, reading through the threads tonight, you've taken your fair share of underhand jabs in several threads--a couple of which even had Griz fans telling you to show some more class. How bout you call it a week and celebrate the Griz winning instead of trying to stir up trouble here?

I think more than anything, it was the cats inability to run the ball that killed them. 53 total yards and NO rushing first downs. In fact, take away the first downs on penalties, and the cats only had 6 first downs for the game. Hard to win doing that.

There was some serious hitting going on in that game, though. If you like defense, that was great football game.

Victor, this Griz fan thinks you're a waste of space here. Don't take the advice about egriz.

Back to the topic: I don't know what to say about the Bobcat offense today. It was a tad sloppy. The play calling was decent, but the passing game was never really established. Jefferson, being the main target that he was today, and key, just couldn't seem to keep his head in the game. I was shocked though. I thought we would see more success from both offenses, and the turnovers were suprising. .

Great game Bobcats. Great heart too.

My biggest hope for the game was the momentum they had going. And how much the last half of the season meant after those first 3 losses.

We should be use to seasons like this. It's just like every other season Kramer has produced for Bobcat Fans. Give the Griz credit they are the top program year in and year out. I would like to see some changes made on the offensive side of the ball. I still don't understand what our offensive identity is. The defense played great and rarely disapoint. We will have a very strong team next year because we return a lot of starters on both sides of the ball. The front seven will dominate and some people will have to fill in in the secondary. There will be a QB controversy from here on out but both are adequate players. The backs will be back and running strong so there is something to be excited about. Maybe it is too early to talk about next year but I don't think we get in the playoffs. The biggest change I would like to see is the offensive coaches and their play calling. We needed to run the ball. Rolo was struggling and until that fumble in the first half Mason had 10 carries for 46 yards. He was getting the job done. We could have ran the ball on 3rd and 1 instead of a shotgun pick into double coverage. Run the clock and win the game. Great game by the Griz defense. Montana recruits sure can bring the thunder during Cat/Griz. All in all a great weekend for Montana Football across the state.

Are the Cats the only team in the nation that don't employ the QB sneak in short yardage situations? It wasn't just yesterday but an observation I've made throughout the season. To me, that's infuriating why they don't use the sneak. I hope Rolo's not too scared next year (or Carpenter) to change up the play at the line when what the coaches call is complete idiocy.

I disagree about the play calling. If we execute we win. 4 crucial plays - 1. and 2. Jefferson-make those 2 catches. 3. The obvious face mask on the 4th quarter interception by Carp, and 4. The dropped pass in the endzone by Wheaton in the 4th quarter. We were 1 play away from beating the #2 ranked team at their place.

The same could be said of Chambers and Allen who had a case of the Dropsies at times.

I was only talking about our sloppiness, and I say it again, if we execute we win.
