The Montana State women’s basketball team finished up their 2006-07 recruiting class this week with the signing of Dy. I have to give Binford a lot of credit. This class while small is what I was hoping for last year. All three of Binford's recruits were home runs. This is an outstanding class, and when these girls get on campus they will form the nucleus of a team that could make multiple runs at the Big Sky conference. Even the balance was out standing. Top notch point guard, perimeter player and a post. I think the only thing missing was a Cass Bauer type center. If you have not guessed I am exited about these recruits.
One other note about women’s recruiting. As far as I can tell not a single Montana girl high school player has signed a D-1 scholarship this fall. In the past is not uncommon for 6 or more women to sign with D-1 programs. Furthermore one of the areas that the Griz have dominated us in has been in state recruiting. I don't believe the Griz were able to capitalize on this advantage this fall. They signed a good class mind you, but nothing compared to ours. When it comes to out of state recruiting, Binford’s WNBA experience is really impressing the recruits. Two of our recruits have mentioned it as a reason for signing.
