BYE WEEK - Tackling/fundamentals.

Post by CARDIAC_CATS » Tue Nov 14, 2006 10:37 am

One thing I am really happy to see this past week is Kramer working on the fundamentals (tackling etc.). The Griz tend to run a lot of outside runs so it is IMPERATIVE that our LB's CRASH the party on those, but WRAP THE GUY UP! There were way too many missed tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage in the UNC game and we cannot afford the Griz RB's racing through the first guy for 20 yard gains etc. I would rather have the solid wrap up tackle on those outside runs than the BIG HITS we have been trying to lay on them. Wrap up/tackle and the rest of the guys swarm for the BIG HITS. Our 3rd down % on defense (getting our D off the field) is directly related to those plays behind the line or scrimmage/at the line of scrimmage. We need to TACKLE and turn it into 3rd and long for SWOGGER and then sharpen our claws/pin our ears back and go after SWOGGER!

GO GET EM BOYS!
