Post by GOKATS » Sat Nov 11, 2006 3:34 pm

It should be an interesting poll this week. Still games in progress and more to come, but so far today:

Penn def #17 Harvard

Towson def #25 Richmond

Villanova def #4 James Madison U

Liberty def #24 Charleston Southern

E. Kentucky def #8 Tenn.-Martin

NDSU def #9 Cal Poly (51-14)

It's too bad NDSU isn't eligible for the play-offs. That said, this loss by Cal-Poly can only help the Bobcats.

What about Ga Southern and Furman? I think that a Furman loss would help the CATS out as well.

13-10 Furman now. If Furman loses they're out because they won't get 7 D-I wins. Cal Poly is out for the same reason.

That win by UMass almost sews up a top 2 seed for them. They need to beat Hofstra next week, which is having a bad year at home next week. Appl. State is up 17-2 on W. Carolina and should get the other top 2 seed. I say this because UMass's only loss was to Navy by one point. Navy is having a good year. Appl. St. 's only loss was to NC State 23-10. Navy will be 8-3 when the I-AA selections are made.

UM might get a top two seed, but I think the way Iowa has plummeted will makes their lone loss, which was pretty lop-sided, look like less in the S.C.'s eyes. Maybe if UM clobbers us next week it will help, but not too likely.

SoDak St. won today and is 7-3, but they play at NDSU next week. I don't think they'd get in at 7-4 just because they aren't in a auto-bid conf., but maybe they would. ??? Furman is still up 13-10 inthe fourth.

A big boost would come from a Sac State win over PSU tonight. It's in Sac, so who knows.

Neithr SDSU or NDSU are playoff eligible this year- they're still in transition.

#14 Southern Illinois def #12 Northern Iowa

I've never been a Sac. St. fan but I'm pulling for them in the game about to start against PSU.

Well there you have it. Thanks. If what was said about Cal Poly not being able to attain 7 wins really knocks them out, then it looks like no Great West teams can get in.

So. Ill is a winner over NIU. Buzz Hornets Buzz!!

The 4th, 8th, 9th, 12th and 17th ranked teams have all lost today. Next week 13 plays 19, 16 plays 24, 7 plays 12, and 5 plays 22 (the Dakota schools don't matter because of the transition period). All that should shake up the polls. That may help the Cats move up in the pecking order.

Cal Poly is out- they should easily beat Savannah St. next week, but that will give them 6 D-I wins and 7 are required for an at large bid and there is no auto-bid from the Great West.

Sac St. leads PSU 7-0 at the half...a Hornet win would be a big boost for whatever playoff chances a 7-4 MSU team might have, especially with Cal Poly falling out of the picture today as well.

They would only have six if they beat Savannah St. So, most likely out.

Portland St. just went up 10-7 against the Hornets with 1:20 left in the 3rd.

COME ON HORNETS!

Even if MSU loses next week the possibilty of a play-off berth is not out of the question although @ 7 - 4; even if PSU wins over Sacramento St., since that 14-0 game I would think MSU might get the favor over PSU by the Selection Committee. At least I would think so. IMHO.
