I say Hauck, unless the Griz drop the last two for some reason. It's pretty cool the Cats have dug themselves out of a hole, but something has to be said for not getting in the hole in the first place.
What's the difference between you and a mallard with a cold? One's a sick duck. I can't remember how it ends but your mother's a whore.

So do you win coach of the year for getting the results that everyone expected? I think if Kramer wins out and gets the crown he is definitely the winner. It is BSC coach of the year and should be primarily based on the conference results. If a coach lost beat 3 1-A teams in nonconference but finished 4th in the conference he would not get the nod. Kramer would take a team picked high but not expected to win and is guaranteed at least 2nd right now. pretty good.

I think Kramer is more involved in this early season turn around than we think he is. Remember his defensive background? The defense suddenly returned to playing lights out after giving up 45 points to Cal-Davis.
He denys it, but I have my doubts as to whether or not Christoff is totally in charge of the defense anymore.
So if Kramer is involved, that's an incredible feat of coaching.

Depending on how Sacto and the Vikes end up, I would go with either Walsh or Moosh.
I agree that the 3-game fade at home eliminates Krames. I have a problem voting any griz coach as COY because I'm not sure how much of the success is coaching, and how much is stadium related. I think Walsh did more with less, but Moosh is right there. This is the first season that I can remember where the Vikes did not fade away, and most of their guys are transfers. It takes a heckuva effort to get a team of transients to play together, and Walsh got that done this year. So, I vote Walsh.

Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.

Although all of that is pretty impressive Cardiac - I still can't overlook the 3 game stink fest that was September. As good a job as Kramer has done since the NAU game it was that bad from Chadron to EWU. If I had to vote right now I would have to say Hauck. Where they are without their star RB and the transfer QB who hasn't really done all they had hoped is pretty impressive to me.

Right now?
I voted for Bobby, believe it or not (I'm ready to dial 911 for any of you who need medical assistance!).
IF the vote is what's happened to date, Bobby gets the nod for having just 1 loss to a good DI team.
If the Griz win in 2 weeks, the vote stands; WHEN the Cats prevail, I'm switching to Kramer (although it's still tough to swallow/explain games 2-4).

Grizzlies: 2-5 when it matters most

Interesting editorial in today's Chronicle about how the coach from UNC should be the coach of the year. He has held a team together and had them still playing to win when it would be very easy for them all to just shut down for the season. It was a great article and I will see if I can get it posted here.
I have a hard time giving Kramer or Hauck the nod. Their teams are right where everyone expected them to be.
Kramer did turn this team around but what caused the 3 game slide? I would say if a coach is getting credit for the good, they need to be blamed for the bad and so I just don't think he is the coach of the year this year.

preseason coaches polls had the Cats finishing 4th or 5th in Big Sky. When we finish 1st, Kramer greatly outperformed all other coaches.rtb wrote:Interesting editorial in today's Chronicle about how the coach from UNC should be the coach of the year. Where are you getting your numbers? According to the preseason polls we were picked 3rd in the coaches poll and 2nd in the media poll.
