I just got done with a meeting at athletics and we are trying to reinstate the "Blue Crew" There has been talk about many promotions to get more students involved in this crew and to be a harassing rowdy crowd at all the basketball games. I don't know how many of you are college students but if you could leave some input on what would make this studen based cheering section more successful please let me know.
So far some possibilities are;
Reserved seating (behind south basket)
3 free t-shirts (more detailed than last several years designs)
Pizza parties/pep assemblies before games
Drawings for making most of the conference games (a tuition waiver has been discussed

)
Meetings with coaches/players ect.

It is about time to get the Blue Crew up and rolling. I would love to help out. The Blue Crew needs a physical presence, not just students wearing T-shirts. Let me know when, where and how I can help.

I hear ya, thats why I want the reserved court side seats behind the basket and not behind the media, five rows up.....I am visioning a mini Gonzaga "The Kennel Club" here at The Brick where students never sit down the entire game and have organized cheers and harass the hell out of the time, I have another meeting next week before we will actually start anything, we hope to have everything fully up and running by Conference play

That would be awesome. It was pretty disappointing last year. I can't wait to get that up and running.

Just got back from the ball game. There was about a dozen of us that stood the whole game and made some noise. I talked to them and mentioned there is a new Blue Crew in the works and they said it is about time. The crowd needs some work.

You're damn right the crowd needs work. You and I and a few others were the only ones standing and yelling for the Cats. We have to figure out some way to get the enthusiasm up. I hope it's just because it was an exhibition game, but it was pretty much the same last year. Something needs to be done to get the student crowd into the game when it's not the Cat/griz game.

I am glad you are enthused and told other people about it, I saw you guys standing the whole game and cheering, We did have a decent turnout for the student section, the problem was they were just sitting there. If we get enough people in those seats behind the basket wearing a common shirt and standing the whole game and bouncing, more people will come and we will gradually grow. If you remember 2 or 3 years back we had just one row of football fans who painted their faces/bellies and dressed up, now we have about 3-4 rows, this stuff catches on we just need to lead by example. I will let you all know on more development of this after my next meeting.

I went to Gonzaga's opener last night against Augustana. The Kennell was as they always are- Unreal! I would love to see that kind of student section at any Bobcat event. I have been to almost every Zaga home game in the last year and they got up for Augustana like they did for Virginia- they are great!

as sad as it is ... all you need for students to get rowdy is for the team to win. This school has never been real good on helping the teams when their down.
