Questions on two plays from Saturday

Maybe it's time for a new prescription....but,

1) on ISU's touchdown pass just before the half, I could have sworn that Cory was in perfect position to intercept the ball. At the last second it honestly looked like the ISU player reached in and grabbed Cory with his inside arm and spun Cory out of position, grabbed the ball and headed for the endzone. Did anyone else see him grab and tug on Cory?

2) In the second half I could swear again that one of our punts hit an ISU player in the left lower leg. We recovered but the ball was given to ISU. Again, did I make this up in my mind?

There were several plays that had me scratching my head (OK yelling at "L" and "F"). But, these two just stuck out in my mind so badly as both were huge potential momentum swings.

weber or isu?

if weber . . .

1) from the top of the student section, it just looked like the ball went right through Cory's hands. it could have easily been an interception - but don't know about any pass interference on the offense.

2) it did appear that the ball came off a weber state player's leg, but someone near me said that the player was pushed into the ball. a play like this happened last year at the Cat/griz game - hard to understand, but guess if a player is pushed into the ball - it is not live anymore. someone with more knowledge on this could probably comment, but that is what i heard on it. btw, the weber player laid a vicious hit on the Cat who picked up the ball on that play and stood there with it....wow!

The touchdown looked like it went right through the defender. It was baffling to me and the fans next to me. Did it go right threw him or what?
The punt may have went off an MSU player before or instead of the Weber player. I couldn't really tell from the replay on the big screen.

This is the rule. I actually asked the refs about it last year after the game. If a player is blocking and pushed backward into the ball it isn't a live ball.

It's true that you can not push a player into a football, but watching the replay this morning it was quite clear that he wasn't pushed into the ball and from that replay it looked like it went off a Weber players foot first and then hit an MSU player which would make it a live ball. The Weber player was in contact with two players (one on each side) so it would have been pretty hard for them both to push him into it. The problem is that this is a judgement call for the referees, but if that was the case, they should have made an announcement to the stadium. Truth is, they just missed the call and would have been a huge turnover. I just wish that I had TiVo because even on the TV replay they only showed it once and I still was not completely sure if it did hit the player, but it did look like it. Hard call to make, but it sure looked like the call should have been made.

1. It appeared that Kory had a step on the WSU receiver but the ball was thrown a little behind the receiver so he was able to catch it with Kory a step ahead of him.
2. It didn't look like he was blocked into the ball at all from my perspective. Very questionable, IMO.

One more thing to add was that call of an incomplete pass against us. I watched the replay of the game and that play several times and I will swear to a jury that Wheaton Caught the ball.

How many times did Pizarro cross the line of scrimmage before throwing the ball? I saw 3 that were extremely close and at least once, Daly and a few others were questioning it.

Also.....on the Altitude broadcast, there was a questionable no call of pass interference against MSUin the 4th quarter. (I thought the ball was uncatchable and hence the no call). Pizarro had rolled right, got spun around by the DE, stepped up and threw the ball down the middle of the field. The TV guys said there was a 'no call' because once the QB leaves the "tackle box" and is engaged by a defender, the PI rule goes away and that all contact is legal. I have only been around football for 30+ years and this is the first time I have heard of this one. What gives???? Is anybody smarter than me on this one?

I thought the incomplete was the worst call of the game. Wheaton clearly got both hands under it and rolled with possession. When I saw the side judge pat the ground I just started screaming at him. There were some scattered boos from the crowd, but I thought the reaction would be much worse.

I don't know - Wheaton didn't make a scene about it, and I still can't tell if he caught it (have it recorded). Maybe he is not the type to get into it with a ref though. If that is the case, more power to him.

Please see thread on Jay Thane photos. The ball clearly did not make contact with the ground.
