Just reported on the news was that Coach McBride was suspended for the comments that he made regarding the officiating at this weekends game. I guess age isn't always the sign of wisdom. :?

I don't blame him for running his mouth. If I were a head coach in the BSC, I think I would be suspended pretty much every week.

I never heard what he said and I thought the gazette dressed it up by saying that he gave MSU credit for the win. I thought that the officiating was questionable and for once in our favor. Why didn't they measure that 4th and inches before the fake punt false start. They did get the false start right but it took a long time for the flag to come out. I thought that if a coach requested measurment they had to do it.

I couldn't hear the ref, but it was right in front of me and I am pretty sure I got the gist of this one. Basically, since it was the first set of downs after a touchback, they knew an exact spot of the original line of scrimmage at the 20 yard line. Where they spotted the ball, it was completely short of the 30 yard line, thus no possible way it was a first down. As for the comments that he got suspended for, I would be interested to see those.

A few years back, Krames was suspended for two games (I think it was two) for not even ripping on the refs, but for saying he thought some of the interference calls were questionable.

The BSC has a history of throwing crappy refs on the field and supporting them with impunity.

Kramer was suspended for just one game. it was vs. PSU, Butch didn't far so well as the interm HC as we were soundly defeated.

And it was the result of the interference calls vs. Joey Thomas that led to Kramer suspension.

I for one am ecstatic to see that McBride was suspended. He was a complete jackass after this game, not only did he whine endlessly about the officiating, but he also insulted our players. I like him about as much as I like Bobby Hauck - and you all know how wild I am about ol' Bobby! If you want to talk about terrible calls by the refs that made the game much closer than it could/should have been, how about the punt that bounced off a Weber player and recovered by us but blown by the refs, or the horribly obvious non-call of pass interference by Weber on one of our players in the end-zone (can't remember who), on a drive that ended with a missed FG.

Here are some of McWhine's comments after the game:
"The wind was no factor. The fake punt was a factor," said Weber head coach Ron McBride. "That was a huge factor."

With about eight minutes left in the game, a false-start penalty brought back an apparent first-down run by linebacker Tyler DeBry, the upback in punt formation who moved up quickly under center to fool the MSU defense and convert a 4th-and-inches situation at the Weber 29.

DeBry would have had a first down at about the Weber 40, but the play was brought back. What was McBride told by the officials?

"He said 'The left tackle moved,' " McBride said. "And the left tackle didn't do anything."

"Second half, Montana State did nothing. They made one drive," McBride said. "We pretty much had control of it. But you've got to win on the scoreboard. All that other stuff doesn't matter."

"We can only blame ourselves,” WSU head coach Ron McBride said. “In the second half, Montana State did nothing. They went three-and-out, three-and-out, three-and-out."

“Bo Smith’s a better corner than that Jefferson’s a wideout,” McBride said. “He had no game at all.”

Just for comparison, Kramer's comments after the game:
"Give Weber State credit. They were making the plays," Kramer said. "It's not us, as much as it was a great effort by the Wildcats."

"He's a veteran coach and veteran coaches know what the heck they're doing," Kramer said. "We said this would be a migraine game all week long and it turned out to be just that."

Totally agree Bozone, I was less than impressed with McBride's attitude during the game and even less so with his media comments (those you highlighted, especially the Jefferson one). Being right behind the opposing bench, I had a front row seat for alot of his behavior.

I thought McBride was a good coach because how he turned things around for the Wildcats last year, but after reading his comments Sunday I really lost respect for the man.

The Big Sky Ref's are Horrible, I think we can all agree on that. But for the most part they do a good job of being equally horrible for both teams.

But Mcbride showed no class after the game saying that MSU did nothing in the second half. He could have taken the free press and said what a good job his team did "which they did" but instead took the time to say how we did nothing. Part of being a leader is always looking to put a good spin on things. McBride with that kinda of class you have shown this week you have a great future ahead of you at Miami.

Ummm, in the second half, if I'm not mistaken, ALL the points were scored by the team who had the wind at their back? Correct me if I'm wrong. Weber scored 12, including the safety and MSU scored 14. I couldn't tell about the first half scoring over the radio, but I think it was the same thing, but it sounded like the game became windy-er-er as the game went on.

Just wondering then: why would anyone say the wind was a "non-factor?"

The comment about Jefferson having "no game" is just hilarious. Why then, did McBride cover him with Weber's best corner? Just wondering.

And lastly: Just wondering which brilliant offensive mind on Weber's side of the ball decided to call a 20 yard down and out against the wind, on the opposite hash mark, when they only needed 5 yards for a first down?

He did what every coach in the Big Sky has wanted to do.

Totally and completely classless. Call out the refs all you want (I actually like that), but keep your mouth shut about the opposing team's players. That's the type of thing that would make me want to aim for him on a play close to the sidelines when we meet them in the playoffs. Oops, I mean when we play them next year at their house. I forgot for a minute that Weber can't even get a sniff at the playoffs. I would, however, ignore that urge. See, you can want to do something and not do it. The same way you can want to say something and not say it. Clown.

In today's Missoulian McBride said he doesn't know who will win Cat-Griz, but after playing both teams he knows Weber St. is just as good as either Montana or Montana St.

I guess that is why they are 2-6 this year and lost to both teams. Its obvious to me they are indeed the better team.

I guess that is why there are 3 phases to the game :) O/D/Special Teams. Our D and O and special teams late on that Lewis return stepped up late while Weber was congratulating themselves for the win on the sideline. I watched the game again and the Weber guys were dancing/carrying on the sideline like they had it won :) Oops, you think they would have remembered the last 2 years.

This reminds me of our friend to the west's comments about Kane Ioane getting run over in the game we won in Bozeman three years ago.

My advice to coach McBride is learn the rules and design a fake punt that follows them!

On the radio, Attebery and Davies indicated that the penalty was right, just the wrong player. They said DeBry was still in forward motion when he took the snap.

So, moot point. Right call for the wrong reason.

When I was watching the Altitude replay it looked like the right tackle flinched, which is who they called it on. They didn't show a replay of it and because I'm too cheap for TiVo I wasn't able to be certain but that's what I saw.
