Weber Halftime Adjustments

It appeared Weber made some really good adjustments at halftime on thier offense. I thought they made the difference in their offensive domination in the second half. Their defense, especially their D-backs were really good. Rolo was looking off his receivers but just couldn'tfind anyone open. I give a lot of credit to their D-backs!
Also, I agree it was good to see Evan Groves back. But, I feel Mason is quicker and reads the holes better. We were back to getting little yardage on first down running plays. This really hurts us. Hopefully Mason will be back next week and both will be used.

I agree it looked like Weber made some nice adjustments.
Their run D was pretty tough. I was really glad to see Groves back. Frankly, I don't think there was a lot of holes for Evin to read. I didn't think the O-line was doing a very good job of run blocking. I think Mason has a little more top end speed than Groves, but Groves is pretty darn quick himself. I was really hoping he could bust a decent run to get the ball rolling.

it seems that opponents of the Cats come out of half time and make good adjustments - but why aren't the Cats??????????
i've said it before (after a couple games now) - i think the Cats have yet to make good half time adjustments to play that complete game. in the last game after half the D look confused about lining up and the O move backward all 3rd quarter. i'm not a coach (or anything close), but what gives?
Weber's fake punt

Weber's coach McBride is whining pretty hard about the procedure penalty that ruined their fake punt. The TV replay was too far away to show anything conclusive. It looked to me like they weren't really set.
Did we catch a break from the zebras on that one? I would think the ref wouldn't have thrown the flag if hadn't seen something-but these are Big Sky refs afterall.

I know they called the procedure on somebody on the line, but it looked to me like the guy who took the snap was moving forward as he took the snap as well. Is that legal? If so, can a QB line up in a deep shotgun and start running towards the line at the snap for a quick QB dive?
The play certainly didn't look quite legal.

I thought that was strange too. I didn't think anyone could move toward the line when the ball is snapped-in Canada maybe but not American rules.

The procedure call I thought was on the up back. He was walking into the line as the ball was snapped and was never set on the play. I thought it was a good call.

I watched a taped version of the game again last night. They called #70 for illegal procedure. I then saw one of the refs make a "standing up" motion as an explaination to McBride (who was super hot about the bad call). I didn't see anyone on the line move and I watched it several times in slow motion to see. I originally thought the call was on the Up Back as he moved under center to get the snap, too.

Could it be that the referees made the right call ...but didn't really know why? Sounds like our BSC refs!

The up back(Debry) was moving toward the line of scrimmage as the ball was snap. This isn't Canadian football, so McBride should shut his mouth. He also had some classless things to say in the Chronicle on Sunday. Saying Bo Smith(their corner) was "better than that Jefferson is at wideout, he did nothing all day".
McBride is a loser!

They bottled Jefferson up but isn't that cool how it takes a cover 2 to do that? Say hello to Donnel Wheaton and Toliver McBride

Jefferson's mere presence helped us score those 2 TD's! Sour Grapes!

Thats okay, just made up for the TERRIBLE incomplete pass they called on, I think Lewis, in the first half right in front of the Weber bench. That was definitely a catch, and was conclusive on the replay. Overall, though, I think it was a fairly well officiated game.
As for Mason vs. Groves. I think Evan ran the ball hard in the second half, despite apparently tweeking his leg early in the first. He isn't the break-away threat, but he's a year older and a little bigger, and runs hard between the tackles. I think he's back.

Groves is clearly faster making the corner. Mason has had holes to squirt through in the past. There was nothing on Saturday. Credit Weber. They scouted us very well and made the adjustments at halftime. This is unusual as usually we make the better adjustments at halftime.
