Punting

Post by SonomaCat » Sat Oct 28, 2006 4:16 pm

Has anyone ever noticed how poorly our roll punt works for us when we are deep in our own territory? I'm sensing a trend.

The third quarter of this game reminds me way too much of the third quarter of the Sac State game.

And do we lead the league in burned timeouts and coming out of timeouts without the right personnel and/or getting a delay or illegal sub penalty?

Just griping ... we win this game, and all is forgiven. It just seems that this team makes the games way too easy on the other team with so many mix-ups from sidelines.

I forgot to mention the high snaps on kicks ... that has cost us a lot of points so far this year, and it looked like it might have had a lot to do with this missed FG.

Did anyone stop to think why you never see the roll punt except at MSU?

Because IT SUCKS!!!!

God I wish they would get rid of it.

Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I think it is good strategy how special teams goes out of their way every single game to ****** the bed and make sure the other team stays in the game........ Oh wait, no thats right, its the most FRUSTRATING, RIDICULOUS, EMBARASSING, MOST PATHECTIC EXCUSE FOR A SPECIAL TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIGURE IT OUT KRAMER!!!!!

That's funny you say that because the Griz did the roll punt about 4 times today.

Wow... with a three hour trip back to Billings, you all beat me to everything I was going to say.

I figured I'd get ripped cos the Cats came away with a win.

Two safeties in two weeks. Both the result of chitty special teams.

This two point crap needs to end as well. I know what the cheat sheet says but with 10:49 left in the game going for two is just craptastic coaching. Then you start playing catch up every time you score for two lousy, frickin points. Never leave points on the table, is what I say.

And what's up with punting when it's 4th and inches on about the 45 or 50? Even if Weber would have stuffed the Cats they'd have been playing against the wind. Are the Cats not confident they can move the ball 12 inches on a sneak? But I suppose going for it on 4th and 9 or 12 (the Chadron game and numerous others) is just great coaching and I'm the malcontent who knows nothing.

It's hard to gather support against the coaching staff when the team's been winning but they seriously regressed this week.

In my tirade after the Chardron game, I blasted Kramer for no trick plays and for going for it on 4th down only when it's evident to everyone. I was certainly surprised, and quite pleased, that they pulled it off today.

Everything I said would happen after the Chadron game did. Who knew they were going to fake it? I didn't. That play hasn't been part of the Kramer repetoire. That's part of my point. Nobody knew it. The crowd got into it and helped carry the team into the end zone. The rest of the game, a fake was just one more thing Weber needed to be on the lookout for.

I know bobcatgrad2005 will tell me the phone number of the football office and give me the address so I can go in and do it better. Actually, not going for two and time out management are two things there's no question I could do better than the current coaching staff.

Cledus, I can't argue with you on the special teams play, but IMO going for 2 down 18-16 was absolutely the right play. This wasn't a 42-35 or 39-32 shootout like our wins over NAU and ISU...with how our offense was playing, you have to go for the tie there. We may well not have had another chance to put points on the board if not for the INT return. I agreed with the call to punt on 4th and 1 at the time, but hindsight is 20/20 and maybe he should have gone for it...
