Let's have some fun part IV

Post by Platinumcat » Wed Oct 18, 2006 11:33 am

Rollin', rollin', rollin' let's keep those guesses coming....

1) Does Rolovich improve on his first start performanc this week? Or, does he have a second game sway? Stick in your QB performance forecast here.

- I just don't see Jack as the nervous type. If given the time, I think he will absolutely shred ISU's D. I'm gonna say, 25-32 342 yds 3 td's and 1 int

2) Mason's got a tender elbow, does it effect how he runs? Mason's weekend outlook?
- Maybe in number of carries but not in performance per carry. I'm saying another big performance from Mas; 22 carries 120 yards, 1 td running and one td receiving.

3) What is the offensive key this weekend?
- Offensive line play is critical here. We need error free, intense, smart play. The ISU board has been talking abou the lack of play in their D line this year. We protect Jack and get a push on running plays....watch out, my predictions for Rolo and Mas may be low!
4) Who has the big game on Offense?
- I'm staying with the offensive line here....my bet is McEndoo has these boys fired up and ready to play (plus I think that Big Lou loses about ten pounds this week and looks like lightning coming off the snap :)

4) Barnett's averaging 6.8 yards per carry so far this season. What is your prediction for how he fares against our playing-like-we-thought-it-could defense?
- One of the keys of the game for us IMO. Barnett is quick and likes to cut back. If we get solid play out of our backside pursuit people, I think we'll see that number cut nearly in half for the day. Stay disciplined and play intense. Because of the way they like to run the ball, I'm thinking we see a lot of blitzes off of the corners.
5) Who has the biggest pad popping hit?
- Daly will absolutely lay Barnett out the first time he tries to cut it back. Force will be a close second with a pop that takes Lacey out of the game mentally from that point on.

6) Defensive key for the game?
- We need some seriously great play out of our corners and safeties. ISU cannot be allowed to achieve big plays; which is what Guiterrez loves to try to create. Also, that backside pursuit is going to be critical in this game. Everyone must fly to the ball.
7) Jekyll or Hyde?
- Statement game...we come out fast and furious and don't look back this time.

We all know that from now on out, these are all statement games. I hope that the team is as fired up about the next month as the fans are. This team is potentially the best assembled. There is SO much talent. I don't think you can point to any-one postition and say "geez we really suck at......position d......." There is talent and depth across the board.

I think Rolo throws for over 400 yards. Most likely 2 picks. 3-5 TD's.

Mason/Groves/Taito will run for 150+. At least 2 TDs.

Our men in the trenches will dominate both sides of the ball. This will allow us to dictate the pace of play all the way around. I see some serious ballhawking going on with several opportunities for turnovers. (possibly from both teams).

I do think that this game will be a track meet. I think that we will come out and run the best mile of the season and not just the first 400m. I think that we will put together a complete game and that the coaching staff will not allow a debacle like last week.

1) Does Rolovich improve on his first start performanc this week? Or, does he have a second game sway? Stick in your QB performance forecast here.

- One thing people didn't realize is how good the Hornets D had been in picking off passes. Against EWU 3 weeks ago, they had 3 INTs, then picked off 4 the ensuing week against Weber. They had only 2 INTs on the season before that, but we know first hand how quickly a team can turn it around. ISU on the other hand has only picked off 4 passes all year long. Rolo will thrown one on his own accord, and if there are any more they will be bobbles or tipped balls. I say he goes 23-35 349 3TDs 1 INT.

2) Mason's got a tender elbow, does it effect how he runs? Mason's weekend outlook?

- At NAU, Mason was bouncing off the turn like a basketball. He was slow to get up nearly everytime, and I see him bouncing a few more times then possibly sitting down for awhile. He will most likely start, and start well, but I don't know if he can take another beating on that concrete turf. 12 carries 60 yards.

3) What is the offensive key this weekend?

- Agree with OL. Give Rolovich time and he will shred the ISU defense. If they manage some big pressure, we may see more than 1 INT by Rolo.

4) Who has the big game on Offense?

- Michael Jefferson played outstanding on turf vs NAU, and I see no reason why he can't have another 100+ yard day.

4) Barnett's averaging 6.8 yards per carry so far this season. What is your prediction for how he fares against our playing-like-we-thought-it-could defense?

- This will be the best RB we have faced all season. We are going to have to stay at home, contain him, and make solid tackles. With his style, there won't be a lot of gang-tackling (he will find a lot of one on ones), so sound tackling is going to be key.

5) Who has the biggest pad popping hit?

- Ryan Force may kill someone.

6) Defensive key for the game?

- Turnovers. ISU is -8 in that column. We need some early turnovers, much like we did at Sac, especially from our corners. Gotta hurt Gutierrez's mentality. Part of that will be getting good pressure by a D that is second in the leauge in sacks at 15.

7) Jekyll or Hyde?
- We played very well last time offensively on turf, and our defense has played lights out the last two weeks. We are undefeated on the road, and the OL is going to be hearing it all week from the coaches. We come out and pop ISU in the mouth, let them come back but hold on for the win in a shootout.

1. One week does not a careful passer make. Rolo will still make some shaky decisions, but his talent and fearlessness will outdo the mental freezes. 28-36, 296 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT.

2. Don't think the arm will be a bother for Mason, but playing on the ceeeement will. I think Kramer will substitute RBs frequently, resulting in some nice balance. Mason 12-81, Groves 8-58, Taito 5-35.

3. Offensive key is, was, and always will be offensive line play. Rolo has time, he'll make better decisions. Backfield boys have holes, they'll blow through them.

4. This defense is starting to gel, Mr. Barnett could be in for a long afternoon. I don't think the Cats will completely shut him down, but he won't go for over 100.

5. I'm going to go for a double. Daly and Force team up and hit Barnett so hard that almost everyone on the sidelines, including the cheerleaders, are knocked flat on their butts. The only 3 left standing are the Big Human, Big Lou and, of course, Chuck Norris.

6. Defensive key will be getting into the backfield. Pressuring Gutierrez will result in some INTs and forcing Barnett to cutback or go sideline-to-sideline will result in some big hits and bringing down that yards-per average.

7. Jekyll will show up. I mean Hyde. Wait, which one is the mean, snarling, nasty one? That's the one who will show up. Cats by 2 touchdowns.

1) I don't think Rolo improves or regresses for this game. I see him have a consistent game with about 275-300 passing and complete about 60% passes...2 td's, 1 INT

2) I think Mason will have 80 yds on the ground and 25 in the air with one TD. I also think with our big o-line shoving people around that Taito will get to come in again and get another workmanlike 75yds and a TD.

3) The key once again this week will be pushing the ball up the field to open up room for the run and the dink and dunk passes. I see Rolo getting a few more bootlegs to get him moving on his feet which he can do pretty well.

4) With Force guiding the defense I think we hold them to under 100 rushing as a team. I like the flow of the line and how they rotate in and out as well as how quick our backers get to the ball. Our secondary is fast and tough and even if they break through a gap Marcosus or Kory will be there to say HOWDY!!!

5) I think Clagett gets a blind side toaster

6) Switching the D and keeping ISU on their toes with varied 3 man and 4 man fronts...they won't know what's coming at them...KEEP IT UP CHRISTOFF

7) We need this win...it doesn't matter what happens...this game is big for us and we need to make it happen.

I forgot to give my final game stats statistic. Hopefully we win every quarter this week instead of playing strong for 2 or 3 out of 4...that gets scary.

Final Score - Good Guys 31, Bungles 18
Total Rushing - GG's 198, ISU - 85
Total Passing - GG's 285, Kitties - 105
Total Yds - GG's 483, Meow - 190
Rollout Punts - GG's 3 for 60yds total, Bungholes none because no one else in the league is smart enough to do the roll out punt.

Also I see Hastings nailing one from 48 this week!!!
