Coach Mason talks about booing the Gophers.

I have never booed the Cats but I can understand wanting to boo the coaches sometimes but how would a student athelete know who the boo's were directed at. I can't imagine anyone wanting to boo a student athelete regardless of how they are playing.

Now a PRO team, that is different altogether.

Booing of players...or coaches for that matter.....is something that should be left to griz fans. They do it soooooo well!!! Can't wait to watch Cat/griz because then they'll have good reason.....if there is such a thing when it comes right down to sportsmanship and ethical behavior.

I have never booed at a game either but I don't mind it. It shows your displeasure with the state of the team you are supporting. I think most kids are smart enough to know when it's 3rd and long and a run play is called and everybody boos, it's directed at the coach. How often does a WR drop a pass and the place erupts in boos? I've never seen that. I think in this instance, the coach knows they are playing a tough I-AA NDSU this weekend and could very well get beat and knows they are going to get hailed down on with boos.

What's going to happen, one of their players is going to quit? They might lose another game? I have a hard time seeing Force or Hilliard saying people in the stands booing hurts their feelings and they don't know if they can continue to play at their school.
"When you act that way, don't you realize there's prospective student-athletes there that are looking at the school? Is that what they want to get involved in? Is that the kind of support they want?"
If I was a prospective athlete and the team I was looking at hadn't won a game and the fans were booing I would think good, they aren't going to put up with this and settle for a crappy team. Things are going to have to change. I can help with that change.

Why doesn't he ask the guy that just donated $500K if he is a true fan and if he feels he has the right to boo when he donates that much money and the team is that bad. I wouldn't say money allows you to be an a-hole, but I would say it allows you to show your displeasure from time to time.

You obviously didn’t attend or listen to the games early this year that the cats lost. I heard booing.

Well, with up to for a $500 ticket in some cases on top of $1000s in donations, I see nothing wrong with alumni booing what they see as a piss poor effort..

It's different for current students booing the players, which I never agree with. It makes sitting next to them in class on Monday a bit awkward, and to me you should always support your current classmates. I sat through some down years and still went to every game w/out booing, although I did see Earl Solomonson take a snowball on the melon from a guy sitting two seats from me one time after a typically horrendous effort by the coaching staff.

We are not playing flag football out there, gentlemen. These kids get $50,000 worth of free education, room and board to play football. The fans pay hard-earned money to watch them play. The fans have a right to boo. Any player worth his jock-strap would not be effected in any way by boos from fans. If he was, he should be playing flag football.

Booing is stupid, period. You only have to look as far as the 10 year old kid sitting within hearing distance to understand why...be a man and give an example of HOW TO act and what good sportsmanship is like whether it is aimed at any player or a referee. Also, NOBODY is out there trying to make mistakes for whatever you deem necessary (or entitled to with all of your donations to the program) to boo.

Whatever Weesor. You probably smoke in front of your kids while having your self-righteous opinions on booing.

Booing can be used in various ways and lets face it part of the game whether right or wrong. It is better then yelling curse words and when used for officials (oh yeah, those monkeys in the striped outfits) perfectly acceptable.

I agree, pretty much.

But should we say it's acceptable to boo the refs when they mess up, but not our guys when they mess up?

I don't like booing players because they are student athletes giving there all. Coaches are paid professionals and when they screw up then let them have. Officials are free game from the moment they step on the field till the moment they are escorted home.

I can live with that, especially the last part with the refs. Regardless, and I don't mean to sound like a d!ck, but I will boo whoever I deem necessary, friend or foe, whether anyone else likes it or not.

That reminds me of a game where the refs ran out onto the field to boos and middle fingers, well before the game had started.

The refs would feel left out if they weren't criticized. I like to make them feel necessary. It isn't an easy job but these guys have the best view of the game and get paid for it. That in itself deserves booing. Plus, I can make any call from my seat in the nose bleeds and never get them wrong. What is there purpose.

I boo the cats every chance I get.







On a serious mode, Ive only ever booed one time and that was the Griz wishbone days of the 80's. Down 35 to Idaho at half, the Griz returned the 2nd half kickoff to midfield, run three times up the middle for 6 yards and punted. I was not booing the players but the terrible coaching.
