the reason I put this in the Bobcat athletics section is for the last paragraph in particular:

I can think of another time honored tradition that Rachac took part in when he went to Stinkville this weekend. But, I'll let you all make your own opinions.

Rachac's a moron, can we bow down and worship the Griz any more than the pile of dung in this article.

The entire Billings Gazette sports writing staff does NOT impress me at all. In fact the entire paper is really not that good. How can the largest city in the state have such a poor paper. The sports staff is just the worst part of a bad paper.

Wow! This fires me up. What a *sshole. Have you checked out MSU's tailgaiting? Can we write hate mail to him? I have lost all respect for Billings Media. About the only sports writer I like any more is Scott Mansch with the G-F Tribune.

Looks like a great thing to hang on the locker room wall.

They do have a nice stadium and a decent tailgate, maybe some recruiting advantages due to this. We have been a better team for three years and we will be the better team again this year.

Billings Griz, you are fun to beat. The truth hurts huh?

I hope they remember what they wrote when we win in November.

from the team without a playoff win since 1984.

....and another pearl of wisdom from someone who's lucky if they were born in 1986.

Let me guess, being a griz fan runs in your blood or did you become a "huge griz fan" when you were about 8 years old?

Agreed. I wish Mansch would just get the job at the Chronical and be done with it. One second thought it's nice to have him along with the Bozeman stuff. Will someone please post links to the Chronical articles?

I didn't see anything wrong with this. Just giving props to the Griz fans. They have good fans, and a lot of them. When we start getting 23,000 in the stands, we'll get these articles too.

So this was an aritcle about the stadium turning 20 and it's homecoming week. What's the problem? He isn't talking about which teams are better this year, who has the best athletes or who the best coach is, he's doing a story on the tradition of the stadium. Big deal.
I hope they remember what they wrote when we win in November.
What did he write that you hope he remembers if the Cats win in Nov?
We have been a better team for three years and we will be the better team again this year.
Good for you, what does that have to do with the article?

"Montana State? Forget it. The Cats are eons away from scaring up anything like this."
Harsh, I agree and maybe a little over the top, but make a good argument against it.

"The aura of the place makes other schools green with envy."
Looks like you're making his point for him.

My point of view - I come upstairs to read the paper this morning at my parent's house (visiting for the weekend) and my Dad looks at me and tells I've just got to read the Griz write up. I read the front page where he goes through and talks about the stadium and the great things it's done. I think no big deal and set the paper down. Then my Dad and wife both go "no, you've got to read the whole thing". The article simply didn't neet any comments regarding MSU in it. That's the whole point. By even putting it in there in the way it was is a knock and there was two or three times the knock was made.

If you can't do a piece on a very nice stadium without throwing a slap in the face to the cross state rival, then you deserve to be called out as a biased writer to a newspaper who has readers on both sides.

The article could have been a lot better if he did not try and cut down other schools (not just MSU) and he didn't come across like an amazing asshole. When he stuck to facts the writing was OK and he does have a point. Lets face it, the atmosphere in missoula (in the stadium) is as good as it gets at the 1-AA level. They have the stadium, the noise, the jumbo-tron and they have the fan support. They even have a much better mascot. We could never sell almost 24K tickets even for a Cat/griz game. It is hard to compete with that and I think it is a huge recruiting advantage. Kramer has built a program that has been as good or better for four straight years. Just think what he could do if we had the facilities and fan support they have.

PS. By fan support I do not mean the level of support. I am just talking sheer numbers here.
