Jimmy Allen is I think the only recruit coming in this week end, but he is a big one.
Image

Jimmy Allen is a 6-10 215lb forward / center, from Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, Calif . Allen is from the same JC as current Bobcat Mecklen Davis was from. Allen was a first team all conference (Mecklen was second team) averaging about 14 points 11 rebounds and 4.7 blocks a game while playing mostly the forward position. During one week end over two games he had scored 33 points 27 rebounds and 19 blocks. He is originally from Vallejo High school in California. Mecklen has to be helping us recruit this kid, we do not get many chances to recruit 6-10 players from JC’s especially ones as athletic as Allen.

Remember that was over two games, but still 13 1/2 rbs and 9 1/2 blocks per game is nothing to sneaze at.

I hear that Utah is all over this kid. It will be tough for the Cats to sign him. 6'10" kids who can play do not grow on trees, they just resemble them.

Guess I missed that. But, yes, his per game stats are pretty darn good.

From multiple sources who saw Allen this week-end. "The shortest 6-10 player ever" I had one person put him at 6-7 maybe 6-8. I am not sure what are chances are, there are a lot of bigger teams after him.

6-10, 215... one of those has to be a misprint right? Or is this Al Beye's little brother?

from this guy...i'd say 6-8, and not ripped by any means, but well built. not a chance he's 6-10 though!

mslacat, I realize that you have lots of inside info, and know stuff about recruits that are not public knowledge.

But, you should also know that it is folly to predict the number of signees for a college BB team based upon how many seniors they were losing. As you know, many things can happen between March and October, with players leaving the program.

All I am saying is that Utah is still recruiting this kid, for whatever reason. As you said, there are other Div.I schools on him too. I was merely pointing out that it would be a long-shot for the Cats to sign him. Kudos to them if they are able to do so. Just don't be too surprised if he signs with Utah.

I ate at Bennigan's on Sunday and Huse and staff were there with 2 recruits. Both looked like guards. One was maybe 6-0, the other was maybe 6-2 and skinny. He looked like he was 15 years old. They both looked like high schoolers.

Mslacat, any idea who they were?

I have heard Jimmy Allens top 4 schools are UTEP, UNLV, Kansas St and San Diego St, with Montana State in fifth.
