The first allowable practice for mens and womens basketball is Friday, October 13 @ 7:00 pm, I have not heard when Huse and Binford will hold there first practice but I bet at least Huse will start very early. From what I am reading and hearing from nation recruiting sources they are rating our recruiting class as 2nd or 3rd in the Sky. Thats pretty impressive considering how late we got started. They also feel Taylor, Meckling, and Zamora will make an imediate impact in the Big Sky. From what I am hearing from Bozeman, Piepoli, and Derochowski are going to surprise a lot of folks in the Sky.

If every one keeps the right perspective it is going to be a fun year!!

I just put out the money for season tickets for my girlfriend and I. Like the non-conference games we have this year except for great falls and western. Is it that hard to get low majors to come to bozo? I am glad to get teams like Oregon St. and Fresno St. but why not No Dak/S. Dak instead of great falls and a Mnt West team instead of Western. (I know, I know what ifs) I do feel this years games are a step in the right direction. Hopefully, Huse can get those NAIA games only in preseason from now on. If we can get some more regional D-1 teams and put some excitment back in the Brick season tickets will soar.
Anyway I am excited for the team we will have in basketball for the next few years.

I spent a couple hours today with the basketball team up on Mt Baldy restoring the M. They are a bunch on cool guys, especially the new ones. I can't wait for some B-Ball.

Adrian Zamora is in one of my classes and he is a really nice and cool guy. I like the new look to the team and I think we can have a good season just based on the chemistry. Follow that up with good play and I think we are going to surprise a lot of people.

I've talked to several of the returning players, and I can tell immediately that team chemistry is much better than last year. I think the group of individuals attitude we saw last year has been replaced with a team first attitude. That will only bring benefits to this Bobcat squad. The women's team also has a strong team identity and chemistry. I'm looking forward to basketball season again!

From what I have heard the men's basketball team will hold it's first official practice, this Friday the 13th at 7:00 pm (the earliest a team can), but as far as I can tell it will be with out the "Midnight Madness" type event. I have heard the players have been undergoing the infamous "preseason conditioning" workouts this week. If you see a player around campus take a little pity if they are dragging a little, ........... especially Derochowski.

On a somewhat related note, I ran into Durham at the Grantree after the EWU game. I asked what he was doing and he said "absolutely nothing". I asked him about all of the changes on the team and he said that many times new coaches prefer to start with "there own" players and that this is not abnormal. I asked him about the team and he felt good about the stafff and direction but felt it could be a couple of years before the Cats are real competitive again.

Is that a new tradition Huse is starting or is it long running? Larry K did that with the M when he took over for the GRIZ. It worked for us. I wish the CATS the best this season except against the GRIZ. Huse should do a great job, just give him time. Also I did a lengthy post regarding the griz this year in hopes to get some analysis from around the BSC, especially the CATS. Lets be kind though. My post is here under college sports. Good luck Cats. MSLACAT, both sites could use your posts regarding BSC basketball.

From MSU.

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Bobcat fans don't have to wait long to see the
2006-07 edition of the Montana State men's basketball team. Neither does the
program's head coach.
Brad Huse, who took the reins of the Bobcat program last spring,
presides over his team's first official practice on Friday, October 13, at 7
pm in Worthington Arena, the first moment allowable by the NCAA. The former
Bobcat assistant coach and long-time Jamestown College head coach likes what
he saw from his team during preseason individual workouts.
"We've been able to get some of the acclimatization out of the way
during individual workouts," he said. "I appreciate the leadership the four
veterans are showing. We should be able to get right into drills and
learning the offensive and defensive systems because of the work we did in
September and early October."
The Bobcats also practice on Saturday, October 14, at 4 pm, and
Sunday, October 15, at 12:30 pm in Worthington Arena.

Anyone go to the practice Friday? I will be at the Sunday practice and I'll give a report on how they look so far.
