Cory had a great game this last saturday.

That being said, he looked for Jefferson almost every pass play. Sure, he completed a lot of balls to him, but I think this was due somewhat to bad pass D by NAU.

The last 3 weeks, the talk has been about Cory not checking to other recievers. Again, I cannot fault him in the NAU game, as he (and the offense in general) went with what was working, but I still wonder if he is going through the reads. I hope he is working on this as hard as he can.

When 66% of his comletions are to one person ( 12 of 18 ), it is worrisome.

Someone prove me wrong, please...

I will try
but since i didnt play football except for the backyard variety i dont know how well i will do

perhaps jeff is his first read, and was open all damn game long. he (jefferson) looked very good during the game and i dont blame him for looking for him 99 percent of the time

I can't prove you wrong. I was concerned about the same thing. There were times Cory really forced it to Jefferson and we were lucky the passes weren't picked like that underthrown ball against EWU in the endzone.

Yep, if Jefferson is his first read and he is open .. then throw it. It's that simple. It was working so he stayed with it. I agree he needs to keep working on that. Progression reading is one of the hardest things for a QB to learn and he should only get better as he plays more. I wouldn't say it is an issue with Cory as almost EVERY QB goes through that. You have to get so that you know the offense 100% and where everyone should be at all times and practice/games/more practice is the only way you can do that at TRUE speed. It takes time. He is starting to come around though.

I think Cory is still looking for comfort in the pocket. I think he made strides that way in the game as he seemed more relaxed. I was making these similar comments during the game. But, at one point in the second half Cory went to throw to Wheaton. Cory threw a sideline out pass and Donnelle did an out and up; they weren't on the same page. That play got me thinking that Cory and Michael were just on the same page for the game and because of their comfort with each other, they capitalized on it. That being said, I'd love to see PSU double cover Michael on Saturday as I really feel that will open up the tight end, Wheaton, Tolliver, Lulay, and Lewis (he is still coming back right?).

In regards to Lewis, it is my understanding that he will see action this weekend.

I agree that he needs more reads, there were times that other receivers were pretty open. however, Jefferson was catching everything and doing something with it. It was also a big boost from him that we needed. I look at it the same as a running game, Mason was playing well so he got the ball, We did not put Taito in just to get him some carries as well or to give the D a different look. We stuck with what was working.
