Official BobcatNation Tailgate Locator Map

Post by kmax » Tue Aug 29, 2006 3:49 pm

Are you a Bobcat Tailgater with a great setup and excellent food, but don't know how to easily let people know where to find you?

Are you a Bobcat fan that doesn't have a Tailgate of your own to call home and just don't know where you can get good food, lots of beer and just have a good time?

Well now BobcatNation has the answer for you!

Announcing the Fully Interactive Official BobcatNation Tailgate Locator Map

Alright, enough of the infomercial approach. ;) But seriously, we here a BobcatNation are very proud to announce the launch of our new interactive tailgate map. For those that just want to get a look right away, you can view the map at http://www.bobcatnation.com/bobcatboard ... te_map.php

For those more inclined to read the directions first (hey there are some ladies on this board ;)) or those who took a look and now want some more information, please read on.

The BobcatNation Tailgate map is using the Google Maps api and is a zoomed in Satellite aerial of the stadium and surrounding parking lots. Upon viewing you will notice several Bobcat flags dotting the map, these are markers of tailgate locations. Moving your mouse over a flag will show the name of the message board user who tailgates there. Clicking a flag will bring up additional information about the tailgate that the user entered, such as how to find the tailgate, what it looks like, what type of food and drink is there, etc. Not really rocket science here, so go try it out.

For those that would like to add a tailgate marker of their own to the map, there are a few things that must be done. First and foremost, you must be a registered user of the message board, if you aren't already registered, no time like the present! Second, your user has to be granted permission to add a tailgate marker to the map, this way we don't end up with a bunch of people placing junk on there. To do this, simply send me a private message or an email ( kevin@bobcatnation.com ) requesting your user be allowed to add a marker. I will add your user to the allowed list and email or pm you full instructions on how to add your marker.

That's about it, hope everyone enjoys it! Please let me know in this thread or via pm or email if you have any questions, problems or general feedback. Thanks.

I'm not sure I'd be advertising all the "cornholing" but the site looks awesome

very cool! Now if I can just remember where I park!

Your marker is movable, so if you don't get it in the right spot, you can move it around the map at any time.

All right, I sent my e-mail to Kmax. We have tailgated for over 20 years with almost the same group of people. who by the way are mostly BN posters. We have moved up in the world now with a motor home. I will see if I am smart enough to follow Kmax's instructions on how to tell you about our tailgate. Looking forward to chatting over a drink or burger with you all.

Cat Gal, I didn't get a pm from you, but check your private messages, I set your account up and sent you the full instructions.

From the early look of the tailgate map, perhaps MSU's new policy won't really affect the BobcatNation too much--everybody is on the "uptight" booster side. ;) Where the heck are all the student side tailgaters?

Forgot to mention earlier, the map is cool.

I tailgate on the south end of that parking lot (not that it matters to any of you :P  )

Here's to a good year of football in the great state of MT. :suds:

I hope that there are more people who tailgate on the "student" side other than me...especially non-students like me! Now there's all kinds of pressure to have a good tailgate now that people know where to find everyone!

I just drove by the stadium, and noticed that they have planted stakes with our names on them, so we know where to park on the booster side. Now I will have to figure out how to move my flag.

Just click and hold on your flag and drag it to the new location then release the mouse button to drop. Everything's easy here!

I'll have to drive by on my way home and find mine so I can make sure my flag is in the correct location as well. Also, for those that are out and about Saturday morning, if all goes as I plan I will be showing (one way or another hopefully) a replay of the MSU-Colorado game** at our tailgate for anyone interested in watching a bit to fire up before the game.

** The kmax tailgate is not responsible for technical difficulties which may prevent previously advertised viewing of the MSU-CU game, however should this arise there will still be beer available. ;)

Thanks Kmax. Got my flag moved, but now when I click on it, all it says is Cat Gal and nothing more.
