Is anybody suprised that Casey Durham is returning?

He'll be a welcome addition. His defensive energy is unmatched at the guard spot. He can really get into opponents heads. Also, this year he won't be required to run the offense. Translation: more energy in defense...way cool.
Casey will finally show doubters why he is in the Big Sky. (it wasn't only because of Mick)

I want Casey to remain. Given how some so called Bobcat fans want to take a scorched earth policy toward every thing associated with Mick Durham including Casey and Scott Carson, I would not blame him one bit if he transfered. As a matter of fact if he was my son I might have enchoraged him to at least consider it seriously. As a father I would not want my son to have to put up with venndettas other have because of me. That said I am not surprised, about any thing, just happy to have him back. Casey comes from good stock and from every thing I have heard is very strong and quality person, so again no I am not surprised. Remeber he is a BOBCAT!!!

THRILLED Casey is staying! I dont think the kid is a legit starting point guard in the Big Sky, but we need Casey as a role player off the bench, and as a defensive presence as well.

I want every kid on the team to work as hard as Casey, play as hard as Casey, and have just half the heart he does.

I say Casey quickly becomes a fan favorite if he stays on board. I think people will admire him for it and he'll never have to here those chants..."Coach's Kid!" Besides he is tenacious on D. Overall people will like Casey even more. I'd love to hear the crowd after he ices the Cat-Griz with a 3-ball this year. And wouldn't Mick love it, too. He's been the x-factor in a few of those games ever since he's been here.

Casey is a very strong player and he'll do well under Brad Huse. I think some of the pressure of being the coach's son will be lifted from his shoulders and he'll get to show that he's a good player on his own merits. And it'll be great when he does ice the Cat-Griz game for us. And I don't think any knowledgeable Cat fan can question Casey's effort and desire to be a Bobcat. And that's what this team needs: some Bobcat pride.

I'm stoked that Casey is staying. We really need his defensive intensity coming off the bench, which I think he will be able to do this year. All the way around, he is better off in Bozeman. The degree he will earn from Montana State will mean a hell of a lot more than a degree from Western or some other Frontier school (with the exception of Carroll), I would think Bozeman is a heck of a lot more fun than Dillon, and bottom line, he is a Bobcat from birth. It will be nice for Mick to be able to just enjoy watching his son play from the stands without all the pressure of coaching, too.

This is great news! Many have pointed out that Casey's drive and heart are outstanding and I will echo that. Having a third geneartion Bobcat on the team is an excellent advantage to help instill that pride in others on the team. I am very excited to see what Casey can do without the presures of being the coaches son and how proud Mick will be to sit back and enjoy watching Casey play!

Good article...I talked with one of the new coaches and he told me that they have been arriving at 7 am and staying until midnight everyday. I hope all that hard work pays off.

i figured the only way that casey would leave is if huse wasn't hired. it really likes coach huse and was wanting to play. the biggest factor is what a competitor this kid is. if you think all of the bashing he took last year about not being d-1, starting when he shouldn't be, and only playing because his "daddy" was the coach, didn't eat him up everyday, then you are dreaming. he said himself he was starting because he had to, and not because he wanted to. so, when huse was on board, i think casey looked at it as an opportunity to play d-1 ball, not for his father, and maybe come off the bench, and hopefully play the 2 rather than the 1 which he prefers, and show that he can play. all this brings a question to mind though. now that this season is all said and done, and we realize how disfuntional it was, do people still really believe that casey was only playing, and starting because of mick? that one always blew me away.

I am glad that he is staying!! Casey will be the best role player on the team next year.
A related question is now does the school have to pay for his scholarship or will he still be a freebie??

Is it safe to assume that all the redshirt freshman from last year will be staying? I have been excited to see what the Johnsons can do.

Based on Huse saying he had two scholarships to offer I would say that Casey is an officially scholarship player. It was good while it lasted, we should be at 13 scholarships for next year (we had 14 last, with Mick paying for our extra).
