And it is rumored that Taylor Rank is coming this summer as well. That would be another super running back to add to the mix who would be a RS-FR in the fall. We are stacked! I like the fact that Bailey/Kramer are looking at 2-back sets.bobcatbob wrote:From what I understand Taito should be fine for the season. He isn't limping hardly at all at practice. The wrist was not serious. Gazzero is looking really good and quick. We are going to be strong at running back this year. Taito, when he gets healthy is going to be awesome. He is big, strong and very fast. He will push Groves eventually.

Rivals ranked Taylor (Seattle kid) inside the top 100 recruits in 2004 I believe. He was being pursued by MSU, UM and some Pac-10/Mtn West schools. He ended up going to South Carolina when Spurrier got the head job... there might be a connection between Ranks dad and Spurrier. Taylor redshirted there, but was a bit out of his element and is coming to Bozeman this summer. Kramer cant comment on him until he arrives on campus, and in order for the transfer to work, Taylor has to finish up the spring semester. This kid is 6-0, 6-1 and about 200 lbs and is a running back. This is a major get for MSU to get a kid of this caliber and to get him for 4 years!
Someone might have a link to an old rivals article on Taylor maybe... mslacat?

Running back we recruited very hard last year from the state of Washington, ended up signing with South Carolina. Rumor is he doesn't like it out there and will be transferring to Montana State - he would be an excellent, excellent get for our football team... and he would have four years to play, as I think he has only used his redshirt so far.canyoncat wrote:Hate to ask this and get away from the Isiah thread, but who is Taylor Rank? Sounds very familier, but can seem to place it.

Thanks for the info. If this happens, what a huge get for MSU!!BozoneCat wrote:Running back we recruited very hard last year from the state of Washington, ended up signing with South Carolina. I don't post much but I read this board quite often. I thought I would put in my 2 cents in that I follow MSU and USC sports closely. I haven't heard anything about him leaving. Right now he is 4th on the depth chart at RB. Most Carolina fans compare him to a guy they had a while back by the name of Ryan Brewer who was a HB type, a guy who would get the tough yards running or catching the football out of the backfield. He seems like a smart, hardnosed player and any team would be better to have him. Again I haven't read or heard anything about him leaving but if he does I hope MSU is his destination.
Just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth.

Well Gazzerro is actually supposed to be on D, but is just playing behind Evin for Spring. Kramer has mentioned doing a lot more two back sets so having three studs will be huge. I think Evin will be the man this year with Taito and Rank trading time as the second back. Beyond that the future is bright for MSU!PapaG wrote:Groves, Taito, Gazzerro, Rank...
there still is only one football allowed on the field at one time, right? I love the depth, but I thought Groves really improved over the last season and should be the #1 back this season.
Is it possible that one of them will move to the other side of the ball?

I saw somewhere that Rank was 'rank'ed the 44th best safety in the US out of h.s., so a move to D is possible, but everything else I've seen is that he's a kickass running back.
I have to believe that this is the most talented team MSU has had in a long, long time. 4-5 good QBs, 3-4 good RBs, solid line, 2-3 good receivers, defense is veteran, good and deep. The law of averages says some of them will be great players. It's hard to ask for much more.

I agree. I just hope that the kids have an expectation of sharing carries with other backs. If everyone buys on, the offense should be in good hands for years.crazycat wrote:I saw somewhere that Rank was 'rank'ed the 44th best safety in the US out of h.s., so a move to D is possible, but everything else I've seen is that he's a kickass running back.

I've been around long enough to see some high-end transfers come in and completely bomb so I tend to remain skeptical. But I tell you this, having seen Taylor Rank play at Evergreen High, and IF he continues to develop, and IF he stays on offense, and IF his injuries are behind him..this could prove to be an unbelievably successful find for the CATS.

Definitely, but he'll still have his work cut out for him if he wants to see any significant playing time. Don't underestimate just how talented Groves and Taito are! I am excited about seeing us just flat out pound teams with our running attack this year! We are going to be scary good!crazycat wrote:Make no "IFs"about it. This guy is a stud.
