Any truth to the rumor that Peter Fields is a candidate for the vacant CSU Athletic Director post? Heard it today and am curious about the validity. Sure would not be a good time with the coaching vacancy.

I believe that it is true and public knowledge. It was discussed somewhere during Mick's retirement news.

Yeah, Dean mentioned it on the SportsNuts on Tuesday I think.

I saw or heard it somewhere, but I'm watching BB & don't have time to look for it.

I started a thread on Tueday Called "Feilds on Sports Nut" or something like that a Friend from Bozeman wrote me a little about Tuesadays "Sport Nut" show with Scott Mansch as guest. They discussed among other things that it was rumored Peter was on the short list for the Job.

The fix is in. Fields is out and Durham takes his place.

Wouldn't his contract end on June 30. Hopefully plenty on time to take care of important business here at MSU.

Mick wouldn't make a bad athletic director, really. He runs a clean program and gets student-athletes to achieve in the classroom. I know he's not the most outgoing person, but he could do it.

Although I didn't care for Mick as a coach, I agree, he might make a great AD. Where would Bruce Parker fit into this picture?

Isn't Bruce Parker at Carroll College?

Bruce Parker would fit great. He's well respected at MSU and Carroll has done great under his tenure. Bruce Parker would work well at MSU.

This is very interesting, my vote for AD would be Mick over Bruce anyday. I think Bruce is a good politician "slap your back" kinda guy but doesn't seem to follow through very well and isn't too organized. Coach Durham is organized, well-respected, and could definitely handle the job.

Yes, he's the AD at Carrol. I still see him at alot of events here at MSU. That tells you where his heart is. I think he or Mick would be great. Bruce may have a bit more experience in this capacity. For that reason only, I think I would tend to lean towards Bruce.

Bozcatfan your right Parker would be terrible, Carrol is in shambles after he's been there. Thats probably why he was named NAIA AD of the year. Ask anybody involved with MSU Athletics over the past 25 years and im sure they will tell you his work ethic is a joke as well.

BozCat is dead on!. Bruce is a great PR guy, period! As for the rest, the powers that be will look elsewhere first, second, third and then maybe Parker gets a shot.

Bruce Parker
Mick Durham
May I add assistant A.D....
Bill Lamberty to the list.

As far as having Montana ties, I think the Athletic Director possition is the one head position in the Athletic Department,

I also know a member of this board who once had eyes for the position, care to thow your hat back in the ring?

Mick is not a AD. Give it up. I will say I do hope Peter Fields moves on. His time here is over. Bruce Parker would do a very nice job.

Parker was one of the finalist for the Missoula AD job. He pulled his name out as he wants MSU.
