7 and 3

Post by golden77 » Sun Nov 23, 2025 10:56 am

The cats are 7 and 3 in the last 10 years against the griz. That is complete domination in the last decade. There is absolutely no question who big brother/little brother is in this series. With that being said you always, and I mean always get the look at the overall record argument from Griz fans. They never mention the majority of those wins were when the friz were the equivalent to NCAA and the cats to NAIA.

Pointing to all-time records that were padded back to when 90% of fans weren’t alive is what losers do. Throw in, as you said, that many of those wins were against a much smaller program and you have to wonder how the mighty Gris ever lost any of those games before the Bobcats became equals in competition level.

The fact the Bobcats won some games back then is much more remarkable than the mighty Gris beating those teams.

It's 34-34 since MSU announced it was going to the NCAA (1956).

I need to go add them up again. I think since MSU announced it was going to the NCAA (1956), it's something like that.
What is the record since the start of the Big Sky Conference?

I’ve always said this is the only one that really matters.
Yes the overall record exists and I’d be proud of it too if it was in our favor.

But any reasonable fan can agree that a true apples to apples comparison is best. And looking at what has happened since the Big Sky was started is just that.

And it’s not a small sample size.

Damn near even for 60 years now.

The interesting record is most losses in the rivalry. Hauk is tied for second most losses with Ash. Hysell has the most losses at 8.

I always tell gris fans when they bring up the overall record, it’s amazing the Cats won as many as they did being NAIA going up against a PAC8 team.

Beat ‘em in the semis and then at home next year and he’ll be the all-time losingest coach in Cat-Griz history! 8)
