Hot take: Chance Wilson is our Michael Wortham.
I’ve been watching some Griz highlights lately (painful, I know), and you can’t deny that Wortham is electric — serious big-play potential and a legit contender for the Walter Payton. But honestly, I think we’ve got that same type of player sitting right here in Bozeman.
Chance Wilson might be listed as our third-string QB, but that dude is different. He’s fast, crazy athletic, and every time he gets a chance to move with the ball, it’s explosive. He’s got that same big-play energy — the kind of player that can flip momentum in one snap.
If he gets more opportunities, I really believe Chance could be that “X-factor” guy for the Cats — the one defenses have to account for every time he steps on the field. Call it a hot take, but Chance Wilson is our Wortham.

Hmmm. Well I like your confidence and would love to see him get some touches in a role like that and see what he can do. That said, Wortham is different. Like next level different.bobcatfan123 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 01, 2025 12:22 pmI’ve been watching some Griz highlights lately (painful, I know), and you can’t deny that Wortham is electric — serious big-play potential and a legit contender for the Walter Payton. I said it early on in the season, we need to find a way to get Wilson some touches on the ball. However,He’s not in the same category or even close to Wortham.

Im not ready to go that far, but i do think we need to figure something out on 3rd/4th and short. We’ve struggled running between the tackles all year in these situations.

Exactly. Has Tommy Mellottish speed. Could run some fun sets that confuse defenses….. our offense has all the parts but could use another playmaker that can score at any moment

Wortham is a special player, I personally believe a next level guy.

He might be. I wonder if our staff could highlight him in the offense.

Very different athletes. Not even in the same ballpark from a skill set perspective. Wortham played some wildcat QB but he's a receiver who can be dangerous out of the backfield. Wortham is also a dangerous returner. Chance is a QB who can accelerate when hitting his stride down field while running the ball...that's his skillset other than passing.

Could this be on the Mount Rushmore of bad takes? It’s in the discussion.
I love the Bobcats and the Miami Hurricanes an unhealthy level

I would like to see chance used more….as mentioned in some wildcat situations. He’d be a passing threat those situations too.

It’s not a bad take. Don’t let Belligerent dissuade you. The kid runs like a deer. He could certainly be a dynamic player that is not playing qb.bobcatfan123 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 01, 2025 6:24 pm]![]()

The take isn't great because Chance doesn't return punts or kicks, doesn't play receiver, doesn't have any agility comparison to Wortham, and doesn't have a RB body. His skill while running is running fast (which I think he's actually faster than Wortham straightline). MSU has been blessed with these QB types since Chris Murray so I would love for us to incorporate Wilson somehow in the this offense. But comparing Wilson to Wortham is something I will call out. We've seen an athlete like Travis Jonsen make the switch to WR and be that wildcat QB. But again, the major trump card here is special teams.Common Cat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 01, 2025 6:34 pmIt’s not a bad take. Don’t let Belligerent dissuade you. The kid runs like a deer. I will also always say this, I have plenty of bad takes on a weekly basis. It's a message board and bobcatfan123 should let the takes rip every week. Hell the neighbors have no problem spitting out takes...good or bad. Why can't we?

Jordan Reed switched positions and he still gets more playing time (as WR9?) than Chance. Maybe our QB3 isn't as amazing as people want him to be.
Showing pressure on fourth down in overtime. They bring pressure. Lamson throws...Endzone! Caught! TOUCHDOWN!!! Taco Dowler!
And a kick away from a championship.
Here we go. Miles Sansted. Snap, hold, kick, Up, GOOOOD!! FOR A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!

I think you’re getting lost in the direct comparison to Wortham. Wilson is not Wortham’s proxy for our team. However, the way we could utilize his skill set could possibly be a parallel to a Wortham.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 01, 2025 6:46 pmThe take isn't great because Chance doesn't return punts or kicks, doesn't play receiver, doesn't have any agility comparison to Wortham, and doesn't have a RB body.
