Depth Chart Released!

Post by Travelingcat » Mon Aug 25, 2025 11:47 am

No major surprises, but a few small ones.

Lamson the QB, Schlepp the starting TEm, Jefferson beat out Zimmer at Left Tackle, Ryan King beat out trimble for WR.

Duchien is the backup QB (a surprise)

RS Freshman Seth Johnson beat out Takhari Carr for DB (major upside for him b/c Carr has had a fair bit of playing time over the years.

In general, our corners are very young, but seem to have added the weight that makes me feel like they have the potential to be solid in run support.

Can we go just one year without releasing the first depth chart with the wrong year listed at the top? I swear this has happened multiple times now

That said, I love that our team is actually willing to name a starting QB for its games

First and goal, clock winding down. That's Humphrey! It's TOUCHDOWN MONTANA STATE!

It’s obviously not a big deal, but little things like this are embarrassing and have been for years. There’s no reason to have typos like this on public-facing documents and it makes us look amateurish. Especially because, like you’ve noticed, it’s a pattern. I’m sure they could get a work-study student to proof these things!

Agreed. Drives me nuts. It’s lazy and embarrassing.

Not sure if this place is monitored by the powers that be at the Athletic department. If it is, I’d like to suggest “again” that we upgrade the equipment/microphones/ backdrop for the whole interview program. I realize I’m getting older and can’t hear like I once did but it’s really not that in this instance. Take a little of the dough from this Oregon game and invest in equipment and proper acoustics! Not being able to hear the questions from the reporters, and having to turn up the volume 3x normal to hear the coach is absurd at this level! Rant over!

They've also got two starters at the same position with incorrect jersey numbers listed.

I don’t think everybody understands how little the coaches and co care about the depth chart. If they didn’t have to put one out, they wouldn’t.

Sure, but the fans and media appreciate them...and since there's an entire Sports Information department at the school that can do this work while the coaches focus on coaching, it doesn't seem like too much to ask to get a one page document right.

Attention to detail is a habit, and, as Cruzado preached, sports are the front porch of the university. It doesn’t take much effort to look over a one page document and ensure that the year is current, for instance.

I’ve never noticed the typos. I look at the names and move on. It’s not uncharacteristic for Vigens depth charts to mean basically nothing.

Yeah that's why I always wait for Skyline or 406 MT Sports to upload their videos each week. Their audio is much better

I may haven’t dug enough, but does anybody know where to find a travel roster?

I have one but I don't know how to post it. Anyone in particular that you want to know about?

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

If you go to the bottom of the Adam Jones photo and click on MSU notes vs. Oregon there is a pdf that has that + lots of information
