Seabass blowing up for the 49ers

He was outstanding in their first game after being dominant in camp. All of the "insiders" and 49ers team reporters think he will make the roster.

Doesn't surprise me at all. When he was at MSU, it was the first time I regularly focused on the DT on defense -- his skillset and quickness really stood out.

I know people don't love it when we have transfers (who does?) but he's a guy who gave us three great years and has had nothing but good things to say about the program-- I would not be surprised to see him have an extended career and be a good ambassador for MSU.

MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Extensive Interview with Shawn Howe in this New York Times profile of SeaBass. Some interesting details I hadn't seen reported before.

How much different would the D been last year if he had stayed. Nearly unblockable up front would have allowed so much to be done with linebackers and taken heat off of Grebe

Can’t help but wonder if that would have been the difference maker in the chipper last year….. lost by 3 points. A play here, a play there made all the difference.

Great player. I supported his decision to leave, but there is no way NDSU has that first half in Frisco with Valdez playing interior line.

Seattle to Billings to Missoula to Bozeman to Portland to Billings

What a ride

yeah, and if we showed up the first quarter and not the second half, we should have won by 10.

Yeah, think he would have been a huge difference maker for us in that game

But my biggest takeaway is that he clearly has incredibly positive feelings for MSU, and I'm going to look forward to enthusiastically cheering for him on Sundays.

Great article on SeaBass aka Hulk. He sounds very down to earth and committed.

If he gets a start on SNF, which school do you think he'll name? I know what I want it to be...

You can't spell dUMb without UM and now you can't spell grizzLLies without 2 Ls.

Love to see this. I am confident that once he gets a chance he will do well. He'll be the fourth former Bobcat to play in an NFL game this year.

And if Troy Andersen can get off injured reserve, that will bring us to five. Lance McCutcheon is on the Titans practice squad.

Valdez ended up being inactive for the game. I'm guessing he was elevated for the game because the 49ers D Line was pretty banged up and they thought they might need him, but the guy they were worried might not play ended up being able to go. The other option I've heard floated around is that you get a pay bump for being temporarily elevated from the practice squad, so they may have wanted to reward him for hard work and effort in practice. He's been scout team of the week a few times already this season.
