This is about UM, and is behind a pay wall, but usually you can view one article before it makes you pay. Dump your history if you've tried before. Or use your Incognito tab.
It also addresses some of the current lawsuits going on with the NCAA.

Paraphrased most of this as well as pulled 7 sound bites out from this roundtable. You can listen here:

Well, that’s more discouraging than ever. Sounds like the NCAA is being forced to let everyone have five years to transfer around to get paid better (they call it eligibility).
Then the next step of unlimited eligibility is being considered — if I’m getting my Master’s and PhD, I’m still a student so how can you limit my right to get paid?
Next logical step — I’m suing immediately — I’m a student so how can you restrict my right to revenue-share by arbitrary decisions about the size of your rosters and number of teams? Shouldn’t every student have equal rights to be a paid athlete, and having 32 varsity men’s basketball teams will fill the bill? It’s not so crazy when you think of the steps already taken, and the shallow thinking behind them.
Are we at the point where any organization sponsored in any way by a public university (takes $1 of public money) cannot enforce any rules as to pay, roster makeup, gender, years and years of eligibility? Any rule can be said to be discriminatory as to your right to get paid. I think we’re about there.
