The quote by Kris Atteberry something to the effect of its a program not a team when giving praise to Vigen really stood out to me. And it's been interesting to hear players go on about this team and coach Vigen and how welcoming to former players he's been. Hand written letters and such. It makes you feel even better about where we're at. And something I would've just expected of all the coaches, not just Choate and Vigen. Luray talked about that. The Kris A interveiw was seriously way more intersting than i exoected. Least favorite pod was Ash. He hasn't watched much MSU. You could tell didn't want to talk too much or give too much credit in certain areas to MSU. He really wanted to talk about what he did and what he's doing now seemed to be my feel of him. Maybe I read into things more than needed. I really wanted to hear him respond to Colter with a "we're going to have to go back and look at the tape". The Big Human was awesome and you could tell has paid attention to what's going on and loved talking with CN.

But seriously give them a listen. Can't wait to listen to Waded's!

IMO there are only four true Programs in the US at the FCS level (MSU, SDSU, UM and NDSU). Everyone else is a team, some good years some not. That's the good news. The bad news is the FCS is now so watered down that the same teams are always on top. It's kinda similar at the FBS level, isn't it? Only about 12-15 programs have a real chance of winning a national championship in any year. The bottom halves of the P4 conferences plus the whole G5 have zero chance.

I haven't looked at all the teams, but I think you could add South Dakota to the mix there. They are investing in their program and are starting to win. The Ivy League schools will be in the playoff mix soon as well and if anyone has money to build their programs up, it's the Ivy League.

The FBS playoffs this year looked a lot like the FCS. Cool that Boise State, Arizona State, SMU, Indiana got a chance but none of them stuck around long once they had to play the powerhouses. Kudos to ASU for coming closest to pulling off the upset.

That will be interesting. I coached at an Ivy, definitely lots and lots of money.

The atteberry interview was great. His description of the streak and its impact on the psyche of football landscape of the entire state was a way i hadn't quite considered before. I disagree a bit on the Ash interview. You're right that he hasn't seen us play much which he admitted. But his take on what they did here was good, and what they had to overcome when they got here with APR, loss of scholarships, broken culture and broken relationships with the university community. I still maintain he was the right guy at the right time. And they won. Not like we are now but got 3 straight conference titles. I think he stayed too long and then Choate was the right guy at the right time. And now we've got the guy that runs circles around both of them. A pretty damn good run of coaching hires imo.
