Not quite, although other than Junior Bergen they seemed to do everything they could to lose to Eddie George and Tennessee State last weekend.BobcatsFBBlitz wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:11 amI want to know who the 7 are that voted him 5th. UM lost to the top 3 coaches, so at least Bobby has that going for him.
Tim Plough was 3rd. So this is correct, and Bobby could have had the trifecta if not for Bergen.MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:20 amNot quite, although other than Junior Bergen they seemed to do everything they could to lose to Eddie George and Tennessee State last weekend.BobcatsFBBlitz wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:11 amI want to know who the 7 are that voted him 5th. Congrats to Coach Vigen, a very well-deserved honor!
Worse than that is 12 that didn't put him to 5. 9 different coaches received a first place vote. Many with showing regional bias from some. If your not top 10 or went from 2-9 to top 25, your not best in the nation that year.BobcatsFBBlitz wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 10:11 amI want to know who the 7 are that voted him 5th. UM lost to 2 of the top 3 coaches, so at least Bobby has that going for him.
Not even on his Top 5 list?! Does this guy know how hard it is to go undefeated and in division 1?! Only 2 have done it this year!BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 3:24 pmHere's one of the fools that didn't vote Vigen in the top 5.

These awards are so flawed because everybody can have a different philosophy for why someone should win the award. Adam Jones didn't win, likely because voters thought he was in a system that produces tons of rushing yards and therefore wasn't as indispensable as the NDSU guy. And with the coach award, it's a fair point to say you're voting more strongly for a guy who turned around a bad program, or dealt with the most adversity, or whatever. The Montana Coaches Association almost 100% of the time just awards the COY to the state champion in that classification (assuming they're a member of the MCA, and that doesn't necessarily always make sense either. I'm sure some people will just say "well sure, look at the resources at MSU or NDSU, of course he won a lot of games". But in this case, it was a very satisfying landslide, which confirms what we all know.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 3:24 pmHere's one of the fools that didn't vote Vigen in the top 5.
