I think I read somewhere that the Stadium in Frisco is going under renovations so the capacity was severely limited after this game for a few years. The NCAA probably said no bueno so an alternate spot would be necessary.
It also highlights something that been in the back of my head. Lets say they do announce a big stadium reno for Bobcat stadium. December to early August would be a severely tight timeline for a project that big. What would be the options for MSU? Have a season with just the end zone and West open? Play at Washedup gris for a season (gross)?

Do the renovation in stages over a couple of years where you keep most of the seating during the season.

As long as Vandy can finish their stadium by then I'd support moving the game there. Would kind of be nice for the game to flip between the two stadiums rather than always in Frisco.

Nashville would definitely have more to do, but will also be more expensive.

That's way too far to travel for those mythical championship level east coast teams.

Unironically this. Vegas is cheaper to get to, has a world-class stadium, and is more fun overall. And as others point out, much closer than Frisco or Nashville to the teams that actually ever compete at the dang thing.
Only downside is that there isn’t as much of a built-in CFB scene like in Nashville. In Vegas or Orlando or something it’s just another event in a sea of a million, but Nashville or Chattanooga (where it once was but probably won’t return) it’s a much bigger event in an area with neutrals that might give a rat.

Nashville would be such a pain in the ass to get to from Bozeman. And more expensive

Many might assume Allegiant Stadium would be the choice, but with a capacity of 65,000, it would feel empty for the championship game—unless it were a Cat-Griz title matchup! Interestingly, UNLV’s former home, Sam Boyd Stadium, was recently acquired by the local government and is likely slated for demolition.

I love Nashville but don't know if I love this idea. As others have mentioned, it's expensive right in Nashville, and would be better outside of town (like Frisco from Dallas). Flights are spendy, although Allegiant and Southwest go directly from Bozeman. But it can get really cold in Nashville...not Montana cold, but I was there a couple years ago in January (I think) and it was below zero. Christmas 2-3 years ago was like 15 degrees and spitting snow. Big advantage for MSU over maybe a southern team or a dome team, but for fans, I like the idea of somewhere warm-ish.

Would rather be in a mostly empty stadium just off the Strip than have to go out to the Silver Bowl (Sam Boyd). Yuck. Still, Frisco's capacity is 1/3 of Allegiant. A lot of FCS schools would be happy to play in a stadium 1/3 full.

I have thought for a long time that Vegas should try to host all 4 lower division championships the same weekend. Start Thursday night with Div 3. Friday night Division 2 or NAIA. Saturday morning play the other game and finish Saturday night with the Cats whom ever gets ready for the beat down.

Not to mention fans wouldn't have to worry about getting tickets to the game every year and scalpers would take a big hit.

Well I know few people like Allegiant…but there is a direct flight from Bozeman to Nashville, non-stop. If they would keep it running in January. I take it 3 or 4 times a year.
Also a direct non-stop to Atlanta from Bozeman on Delta. Spend a few days enjoying Atl and drive to Nashville….i think I did it in 5 hours.

You could keep it in the Dallas area. There are lots of stadiums to choose from: the Cotton Bowl, SMU and North Texas all seat more than the stadium in Frisco. Heck, there are high school stadiums in Texas that are better than most of the stadiums in the FCS.

How far we (the Bobcats) have come. Does anyone remember playing at Van Winkle during the stadium upgrade? Was it when Gatton moved to Reno H Sales, or was it the “press box” renovation?
