Cat/Griz Predictions 2024
The heart attack symptoms we felt last night have now subsided. A huge win on the road and we now head into Cat/Griz 11-0!
UM is such a weird team this year. A 2 QB system for seemingly no reason. A defense that is not nearly the same as we're accustomed to. So, who's the real maroon team? We'll see Saturday, but I don't think the real team is that great.
Both of UMs lines are below average. There's no block eater like Gubner on the DL any longer, and the run D is suffering for it. Their secondary isn't what it was last year either. I expect a ton of points from the Cats. Many yards on the ground, and a lot through the air.
Fife is a decent QB, but so was Dampier, Tracy, and Hastings. Fife isn't the best we've faced, and he shouldn't scare Cats fans. I expect to see a gameplan similar to the Davis game on defense. Lots of pressure trying to force UM into mistakes. Their OL is sub par and I expect our front to play very well.
Rivalry games are weird, and Cat/Griz is no different. But this is possibly the best Cats team we've ever seen. They know this has to be a win, and we should expect one. Let's go 1-0, 12-0 and get that 1 seed!
Cats - 49
The 3rd and mosted hated bear opponent this season - 20

That other team is going to do everything they possibly can to ruin our perfect season. Fife definitely puts the team in a better spot. But ultimately their lousy defense and Fife under pressure will give in and cats roll 45-14

Re: Cat/Griz Predictions 2024
My brain tells me it won’t be close. The talent difference is clear to anyone that has watched both teams. The Cats are more talented and deeper across the board, and it’s not really close…
It’s strength vs weakness with our OL and running game vs their front 6 and again with our front 6 vs their OL.
This has all the makings of an ass kicking, like bobby so eloquently put it last year.
But…. It’s a rivalry game, weird sh*t happens. 2011 is still a haunting memory. But nothing I’ve seen from this team leads me to believe they’ll let something like that happen this year.
I’m not predicting an exact score, but I think the Cats win by at least 17.

Cats are good, and the gris are not. Plain and simple. gris may get some garbage points.

I was thinking about that too. I am certain the team will be talking about that day, just like they talked about the Chadron State loss in 2006. I expect them to be ready.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:33 pmMy brain tells me it won’t be close. The talent difference is clear to anyone that has watched both teams. Re: Cat/Griz Predictions 2024
Cats 48
Gris 13
Cats up 28-6 at half and the Gris quit.
Crews 3 QB sacks.
Julius Davis sends two DBs to the bench after their tackle attempts.
Bobby Hawktuah pushes Fife from behind coming off the field after his second sack-fumble. His contract is terminated at the end of the season and is replaced by his son Robin. Robin's first action as HC is to demand a full recount of the tackle statistics from 2018-2023 and change the definition of "tackle" to include "a grossly improper angle resulting in a missed tackle".
After getting my tickets in October I finally make my room reservations for Frisco.

Re: Cat/Griz Predictions 2024
I'm with you on all this, and I think the reason I'm a bit more concerned about this game than I should be is BECAUSE of how the last two played out. In other words, for both of those games, the Griz looked to be around the same as the Cats in terms of how well their seasons were going, how good and talented they looked, how they fared against common opponents, Cats not having Troy Andersen in the one, etc. Both of those games were setting up to be nailbiters, clash of powers. Until kickoff. Then the Cats absolutely demolished them and neither of those games we even close, whatsoever.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:33 pmMy brain tells me it won’t be close. So now, you look at the body of work from both teams, how they're playing, how good their star players are, common opponents, etc. On paper it looks like THIS should be the lopsided game, blow them out. So that's what makes me nervous about it. lol
All that said, I'm not putting any money in this game, or point spread predictions, etc... but I just have to believe it will play out like many of us think it will. Cats running all over them with some opportune pass plays, our stout D making it awful tough for them to score much, their offense not being able to deal with the crowd very well, etc. Just win baby.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Re: Cat/Griz Predictions 2024
I’m not so sure Fife does put them in the better spot. He’s the better QB, but he is more conventional and the Cats have feasted on conventional QBs all season. It’s the dual threat guys who have given them the most trouble. Now Ah Yat is so limited as a passer and not a good enough runner to make up the difference, but I think it’s a toss up as to which one would be the best of two imperfect options.

Fife is a lot better than Ah Yat in my opinion. When Ah Yat didn’t play for a couple games Fife had the offense moving, granted against very poor defenses.GoodTimesAllTheTime wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 11:47 amI’m not so sure Fife does put them in the better spot. Re: Cat/Griz Predictions 2024
That’s my point though. Fife is probably the better QB but I don’t think he gives them a better chance to win than Ah Yat. If you want to beat the Cats, you need to add some wrinkles and I think Fife is too conventional, even though he runs the offense better than Ah Yat.Monymony wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 11:59 amFife is a lot better than Ah Yat in my opinion.
