For you stat guys. Has the 1st team defense scored more points than given up?
I am thinking they have scored more. That is how awesome our defense is this year.

By that metric the defense hasn't given up any field goals this season either. If field goals count against the defense I'm pretty sure blocked punts returned for TDs count for the defense.

On broadcast they showed 1st half pts given up. 17 first game then 3 games of 0 and 3 of 7. Giving up 4.4 pts per game in first half. Gregorak pointed out 14 of those in first game were the strip sacks ran back for td. Wasn't 1 of those in 2nd half. Today another 0.

Yeah, Ty was wrong. The opening drive of both halves ended with the offense giving up TDs.

I don't know how the classifications work for sure but I think that if a returner scores that's a ST score but if you block a punt and return it that's a defensive score equivalent with the other team going for it on 4th down. I'm not sure if I'm just making all this up or if I'm remembering it from somewhere in the past.

Regardless of whether or not the defense has officially scored any points, they haven't given up many to FCS opponents through 7 games!

I'm not 100% sure either, but I think blocks go down as ST scores.

The Defensive TD stats on the NCAA website only include Interception and Fumble returns. MSU has none of those and isn't listed.
