No Re-entry

I am going to get a lot of flack for this, but we should have a no re-entry policy. As you can see from this post by Eck, people not getting back after halftime affects the game. If you are there for the football and having the best home field advantage possible, we should make a change.

3 things need to change in order for this to happen:
1. Alcohol available in-seat, or at least more accessible than 1 beer garden
2. More bathrooms
3. A warm place for people to warm up at half or even during the game
Pretty much replace all the things a tailgate can provide

Never fails. I have a tailgate, go out at half, and make it back before the kick off, and I don’t give two ****** if some people don’t. It’s their choice and they are usually the ones spending a lot of their money on MSU athletics, so yeah let’s implement that rule.

I think they should install some sort of laser that melts anybody's seat if they aren't back in time. Of course they would have to buy you a beer for melting your seat. I'm undecided if they should then rebuild the seat for the next game.

Less rules is better than more rules. Let fans enjoy the game how they want, ultimately it doesn't really matter if the stadium is 60 or 80 or 100% full at the start of the third quarter. The better team will still win.

There is an opposing coach who actually comes out and says how it creates an advantage for their team. But some people don’t want to give up their 10 minutes of beer drinking to take away that advantage. Amazing.

People just can’t let people enjoy a game the way they want and say it’s beer that makes all go out. People have friends and family and kids and everything. Just enjoy the fact we have a good environment for all to enjoy not just the straight game watchers and go home.

Simple solution: Score more points in the first half so that we can spot our opponents a score after half. Simple, clean, everyone gets what they want.

Brother. I don’t even disagree with you on the re-entry, but at the end of the day it’s a social event for a football game that doesn’t make a difference on our day to day life. It ain’t that big of a deal.

We still get to play 11 players on D in the 3rd right?

Agreed that it isn't that big of a deal for a number of reasons. First, the opposing team actually has to win the coin toss, which happens roughly half the time and not every game. Second, do you hear the offense complain when there is less noise coming out of half because casual fans get really excited about a big play and make it difficult for them to communicate? Not so much. Finally, as much as we as fans like to think we have a big impact on the game, most times it is just simply not true. Players don't tackle better or obtain better vision simply because the crowd is louder for them. I'd be willing to bet that getting a three and out after half feels just as good in an empty stadium as it does in a packed house. If people are enjoying the game, let it be and enjoy it in your own way.

I 1000% agree with you @Cataholic . In big games the players feed off the energy from the crowd.
I can't even believe the responses on here right now....

Pretty clear both Vigen and Eck acknowledge the advantage. If I were a betting man, I'd say that the crowd will be at full throat after half this Saturday, if needed, whatever the number of empty seats now that attention has been drawn to this!
Go Cats!

I hear you. Many of the same posters above want bigger scoreboards, better stands, indoor practice facility, yell louder, hype music/videos, etc to provide us a better chance at winning. But ask them to forego 10 minutes of social visiting is a ridiculous ask. It is mind boggling to me.
What really is crazy that an opposing coach came out and said it helps them!! Yet many of the posters are in complete denial. It is nuts!

If teams were scoring more in the 3Q than any other quarter of the game, you'd have a point. But our box scores from the past 3 years say otherwise.

Most of the scoring incidences happen either in blowouts, or after MSU had already scored in the 3Q. It does not matter, now let us drink and socialize in peace.
Long live re-entry

Agreed, and I say this as a fan who never leaves the stadium from kickoff until the final whistle no matter how lopsided the score. It simply doesn't matter. Enjoy the game how you want and mind your own business about how others enjoy it. What's next, fan police roving through the crowd chastising fans who don't make noise on defensive third downs or clap along with the fight song after a touchdown?

This. Tickets are expensive. Hotels are expensive. Tailgating spots are expensive. Gas is expensive. If people are willing to incur these costs to go to a game, they are sure as hell entitled to be ten minutes late from halftime.
