Throwback uniforms?
Are we potentially getting throwbacks this weekend?
We're honoring the '84 team, bookstore has throwback apparel now in stock, and the football team hasn't posted a game week post on instagram yet like they normally do.
Surprise reveal coming soon?

I'm pretty sure I heard Vigan say the helmets would have the 1984 and cats script.

Re: Throwback uniforms?
I realize that the 1984 team is being honored on Saturday, but if they've got throwback uniforms in the works for this year I personally hope they save them for Cat/Griz. I remember sitting in Washington-Grizzly stadium in 2008 when the Griz came out in their copper & gold throwbacks and thinking the game was almost over before it even began with how hyped up the team and fans clearly were to be wearing those uniforms.

Re: Throwback uniforms?
I feel like throwback uniforms have a much greater impact the first time the team gets to wear them and the fans get to see them on the field. MSU could beat Northern Colorado by 50 points if they come out wearing their practice jerseys, so it seems like wearing them on Saturday would waste some of the excitement they could generate in the stadium later in the season against much stronger opponents.damnyoutuesday wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 10:46 amPorque no los dos?MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 10:41 amI realize that the 1984 team is being honored on Saturday, but if they've got throwback uniforms in the works for this year I personally hope they save them for Cat/Griz. Re: Throwback uniforms?
I see what you mean but I think that might be putting a tad too much emphasis on the throwbacks. Fans love them. Players love them. And I think it's a sweet thing to do. I'm just not convinced they play that big of a role in teams winning.MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 11:01 amI feel like throwback uniforms have a much greater impact the first time the team gets to wear them and the fans get to see them on the field. To go a step farther I'd say that for Cat/Griz, no other motivation will be necessary for the players OR the fans. That game will be for all the marbles and the place will be electric.
I also remember the griz coming out in some god awful Halloween looking costumes and that didn't go as well. Or the time they didn't allow us to wear alternative jerseys in Missoula and we beat them on their turf and busted the jerseys out for a Homer Hanky type post-game celebration.

Personally if we're going to bust out throwbacks, I can't think of a better time than to honor that '84 squad.

I agree. Can't think of a better time to wear them than homecoming when we honor the team that originally wore themilovethecats wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 11:13 amI see what you mean but I think that might be putting a tad too much emphasis on the throwbacks. Re: Throwback uniforms?
Just to add to other coincidences that we might be wearing throwbacks: the football instagram account normally posts photos from practice and most players are wearing the helmet that we're wearing that week. But there's been no practice photo this week, only a post with Big Sky Bravery where a D-lineman (I believe it's Brody Grebe) wearing a throwback colored sweatshirt and no helmets in sight.

So they're saving them for Cat/Griz just like I suggested earlier in the thread...

Re: Throwback uniforms?
Honestly, we don't use the "Cats" script enough. We always get gold rush and like 1 other game. I like the script more than I like having the Bobcat logo on the helmet
