Listening to the ESPN show Colter did yesterday, he said that 49 was the most a Bobby Hauck Griz team has ever given up. The Cats hung 55 on em in 2022. Appreciate everything you and your crew do tho Colter. I just couldn’t let that one go
Edit: he corrected himself like 2 minutes later. Lesson learned, listen to the whole thing

Read or heard something similar in the last couple days but they clarified that the 49 number was the most scored on them in a win.

Either way, I’m all for bringing up that 55 anytime it’s convenient :)

Yes I articulated that incorrectly yesterday! The 49 was the most a Hauck team has given up in a win. The 55 in Bozeman is the most they have given up, period.

Also, shout out to former Bobcat trackster Steve Hodge for correcting me in literal real time haha. He was listening live and texted me 4 seconds after I said that

Photo of the 1983 defense mentioned in the article. #42 Kirk Timmer, #59 Lonnie Burt, #91 Tex Sikora and #68 Mark Fellows would become national champions the following season.

That defense only lost a few players. Jim Kalafat was a linebacker. The defense was really good but their stats didn’t show it as they got worn down in the second half. Great example of how a good quarterback can make a defense better. Kelly Bradley might’ve been the best defensive player in MSU history. Perhaps no one player has made a defense better. No wonder his brother is such a good defensive coordinator.
