Potential Uniform option
Since it is a bye week for the Cats I have just sat back and watched some football with no expectations.
Currently watching Cal vs SDSU and I think Cal’s uniforms tonight are sharp. Maybe an option for the Cats, old school yellow/gold with the Navy blue.
Yes I am an older gentleman so when I was in school the Cats were always Blue and Yellow.

Re: Potential Uniform option
I love me a good throwback or retro uniform. I love that they use a yellow gold for Gold Rush. It’s a neat take on our colors.
My all time favorite combo is blue pants and unis and white helmets with the Stars & Stripes Cat head logo. A close the second is the all-blue with gold M helmet.

Agreed, the Cal uniforms last night were awesome. I've always been a proponent of MSU athletics using the same colors as those on the Montana state flag, so would be fully in support of an alternate uniform design using those colors! This is also the 40-year anniversary of the 1984 National Championship and would seem to be a good year for throwbacks to be worn like in 2014, although I feel like we'd have heard rumors by now if this were happening.

Sorry for potentially sidetracking this topic and I know you mean well. I know I'm probably in the majority on this, but I don't like the Stars and Stripes on any sports uniforms other than a flag sewn into or affixed to the shoulder of jersey or back of the helmet. Flag should be neither abused nor glamorized. I don't even like bikinis with it. Fly it off your porch or hang it on a wall. It's not a toy or an accessory or something to make money off.Bobcat Sig wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 3:30 amI love me a good throwback or retro uniform. I love that they use a yellow gold for Gold Rush. Here's why: a lot of people/businesses don't do anything for veterans on Veteran's Day. Many veterans are suffering from having fought in wars and there are people making money off them by affixing our flag to their logo and selling that on t-shirts, hoodies, etc. The money made off that stuff should go to some veteran's organization or be illegal. Just my opinion.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I’d have to disagree with you a bit on this, Tom. Most of the items you are writing about don’t have the actual flag on them. The Bobcat helmet he is writing about has patriotic imagery on it. The flag has 50 stars and 13 stripes, that helmet does not. That Bobcat helmet having stripes and stars on it, doesn’t mean it’s the same as the American flag or should be treated as such. An American service member or civilian wouldn’t salute or recognize the helmet or any other item with that kind of imagery on it during the National Anthem, they would salute or recognize the actual American flag. The flag code wouldn’t apply to patriotic imagery like it would the actual flag.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 8:03 amSorry for potentially sidetracking this topic and I know you mean well. American service members also don’t own the flag, its image belongs to all Americans. Yes, like you, I’m a veteran, having served over 30 years on active duty. I respect your passion on this subject though and I understand what you are writing about.

Re: Potential Uniform option
Opening myself up for rebuke here, but I get a trifle annoyed with having 3 or more colors each of helmets, jerseys, and pants. Anything over 1 helmet, 2 jerseys, and 1 pant for games is redundant spending.
I’m not opposed to the times when the team has special jerseys and then sells them as a fundraiser. I have a couple of those myself.
I realize that budgets these days are probably richer than when I was in college, but I wonder sometimes if teams spend too much on “variety.” Oregon drives me nuts.

I wonder if the team actually pays for uniforms or if Under Armour just provides them. Maybe they give us a budget each year that covers X number of combinations.nevadacat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 4:59 pmOpening myself up for rebuke here, but I get a trifle annoyed with having 3 or more colors each of helmets, jerseys, and pants. As far as I know, FBS schools at the very least are paid for their sponsorship deal, not the other way around. Under Armour just re-upped with Maryland for 12 years and 98 million.

If that’s the case, then I’m cool with that part of it.coloradocat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 5:04 pmI wonder if the team actually pays for uniforms or if Under Armour just provides them. And I love what Oregon has done. Love it. They have their cold and they make all sorts of combos with it. I find the variation interesting.nevadacat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 4:59 pmOpening myself up for rebuke here, but I get a trifle annoyed with having 3 or more colors each of helmets, jerseys, and pants. Nothing is more boring when it comes to unis as what USC and Alabama do. I know many here like it; I do not.
