Cats vs. Maine Gold Rush predictions
Week 1 is in the rear view, and the Cats are 2-0. After 2 pretty weird games, it's time for Gold Rush. The Cats seemingly dominated FBS New Mexico, but needed a 17 point comeback to win. UT Tech was absolute domination, yet the offense only scored 31 points. UT Tech actually won in the most players cramped category though.
Now, bring on Maine. A team usually in the hunt in the CAA, Maine has been down the last few years. Since making the semifinal in 2018, they've not been as good. They beat a usually decent ish Colgate team by 3 in week 1, 17-14. Neither team had over 300 yards of offense. Now they'll be facing a Cats team that has yet to fire on all cylinders, coming home for one of the best home opening scenes in college football.
The defense won't dominate like they did UT Tech, but I expect a solid performance in front of the home fans for the first time in 2024. I also expect the offense to iron some things out, and despite missing some pieces, start putting things together more fluidly. All of that that put together equals a big win for the Blue and Gold.
Cats - 48
Bears that aren't grizzlies - 15

Pretty good assessment of the game I think. It’s time for a defensive score and the offense is much smoother. 2nd team defense gives up 10 points.

50-10 if Tommy plays, 30-10 if they're careful and give him the week off.

Cats D finally breaks the sack shutout and gets 3.
Kicking game still not fixed, miss 1 PAT and a FG attempt.
Cats 41
Bears 17

Da Cats 48
Da Bears. 10
I noticed that Jahari Martin plays for Maine...must have been traded for Rohan Jones.

I'm guessing that Maine is better than Utah Tech and we only beat them 31-7. Cats 27, Bears 14.

Maine finished near the bottom of the CAA last, squeaked by Patriot League Colgate last week, Cats are finally playing at home for Gold Rush. This game will not be close.

Re: Cats vs. Maine Gold Rush predictions
38-14.
Maine is a little better than Utah Tech, but it’s also at home and it’s Gold Rush.
I think 2’s and 3’s will play plenty and I get the feeling that the team will continue to work on things, meaning, we may pass more than some would like. Some will work, some won’t. But now is the time to work on it.
If the 1’s and 2’s played the whole game and they just ran it 75% of the time, the score would be more lopsided, but I could see it playing out similarly to the first two games where it gets clunky at times.

Have to remember that we were playing very late at night in a furnace on the road. It wasn't flashy but we took care of business and the game was never in question. I think they will have a lot more energy playing at home.

100% Agree. It was another weird game with things happening you don't often see, in a Hillsboro like stadium, and cramps happening left and right.technoCat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 9:12 amHave to remember that we were playing very late at night in a furnace on the road. I predict 70 degrees, light breeze and clear skies for kickoff and the only thing those Mainegy Bears win is the coin toss.

Re: Cats vs. Maine Gold Rush predictions
The Cats averaged 50 points/game at home last season, with a low of 34 (Vs. NDSU). The score in this last week's game was deflated by some penalty-killing drives, missed field goals, and pulling starters.
