Pretty crazy.
So did the guys chasing him, but still couldn't catch him.saintcat40 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 9:52 amI sent that to my son, and he reminded me that Jones had quite the tailwind. I completely overlooked that. Regardless, it was VERY impressive.
I thought Vigen said it had settled into a crosswind for the 4th quarter? The Butcher wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 10:04 amSo did the guys chasing him, but still couldn't catch him.saintcat40 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 9:52 amI sent that to my son, and he reminded me that Jones had quite the tailwind. Correct. The initial wind was S. to N., then switched 180 to N. to S. for the 1st half of the 4th Q. I was standing under the video scoreboard when AJ popped that run, it was a straight on 20+ MPH crosswind at that point. It stayed that way for the remainder of the game. It was indeed very impressive, ( the TD run and the wind).technoCat wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 10:16 amI thought Vigen said it had settled into a crosswind for the 4th quarter? The Butcher wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 10:04 amSo did the guys chasing him, but still couldn't catch him.saintcat40 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 9:52 amI sent that to my son, and he reminded me that Jones had quite the tailwind. Exactly. I've coached kids in both football and track, and as sprinters they were just OK...but get them on the field and nobody could catch them. Or they'd catch up with guys who beat them in the spring by a half second in the 100. Guessing Adam Jones is a football fast guy.
Vigen mentioned that Jones was primarily a baseball guy for the spring season. Only ran one year of track in HS.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:44 amExactly. Also a really good hockey player in high school. Football, hockey, and baseball were his primary sports.wbtfg wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:50 amVigen mentioned that Jones was primarily a baseball guy for the spring season. I miss me some Frenchtown Freight Train!VimSince03 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 11:58 amCody Kirk was a kid who actually got faster in college through training. It can be done!
I was teaching my students how to convert rates today and I used this to help them get a sense of how fast 22 mph is. It was fun.
