Hopefully he has a great love for Bozeman, as his size and speed will get him on some radars.

I sent that to my son, and he reminded me that Jones had quite the tailwind. I completely overlooked that. Regardless, it was VERY impressive.

So did the guys chasing him, but still couldn't catch him.

I thought Vigen said it had settled into a crosswind for the 4th quarter?

Haha, I had the same thought...

I imagine his eyes got as big as saucers when he saw the lane. The extra juice of adrenaline due to the situation had to have helped.

Jones ran an 11.28 to finish seventh at state. His best time was 11.23. I think it’s safe to say he’s gotten faster since then.

Correct. The initial wind was S. to N., then switched 180 to N. to S. for the 1st half of the 4th Q. I was standing under the video scoreboard when AJ popped that run, it was a straight on 20+ MPH crosswind at that point. It stayed that way for the remainder of the game. It was indeed very impressive, ( the TD run and the wind).

Exactly. I've coached kids in both football and track, and as sprinters they were just OK...but get them on the field and nobody could catch them. Or they'd catch up with guys who beat them in the spring by a half second in the 100. Guessing Adam Jones is a football fast guy.

Vigen mentioned that Jones was primarily a baseball guy for the spring season. Only ran one year of track in HS.

Also a really good hockey player in high school. Football, hockey, and baseball were his primary sports.

Cody Kirk was a kid who actually got faster in college through training. It can be done!

My wife's nephew played with him in high school. The family lives in Missoula and are Gris fans. They are at least Adam fans, so we are getting a few fans at least when he plays.

That’s P4 NIL Portal Speed.

As for the wind, the missed FG by New Mexico near that time of the game showed a crosswind on the kick.

Pretty crazy.

I was teaching my students how to convert rates today and I used this to help them get a sense of how fast 22 mph is. It was fun.
