Cats @ Utah Tech Predictions

Well, Week 0 is in the books and the fellas already gave us all heart attacks. There were things to like, and things not to like, but a win is a win. Last year's team would have lost that game. The comeback and win was huge for this year's team.

Now we've got 3 games in 4 weeks against bad teams. There should be a whole lot of depth guys getting experience this next month, starting this weekend with UT Tech.

Last year was a 63-20 win. This year should be more of the same. Cats are going to roll, and the starters should be out early in the 3rd quarter, if not by halftime.

Cats - 56
Blazers of Trails - 17

We clean up the Turnovers/pass blocking it would have been a 35-17 game in our favor, take the next few weeks to do that and improve Tommys passing. Against UT-Tech who I believe has a new coach I expect us to do just that:

Cats: 45
Tech: 10

I was looking at Utah Tech's roster a bit last night and as you might expect for a team that made an off-season coaching change they had a bunch of transfers both outgoing and incoming. Perhaps the most interesting name is Deacon Hill, a QB who started out at Wisconsin and then went to Iowa where he started eight games last year for their historically awful offense. He had a 49.6% completion percentage with 1,096 yards, 6 TDs and 5 INTs in those 8 starts. He doesn't appear to be a running QB at all as his rush yards were -106. If he's the starter I think the Bobcat D-Line could have a field day against what will presumably be a smaller and weaker o-line than what New Mexico had.

I'll say MSU cuts down on the mistakes, leads comfortably 28-0 at the half and coasts in the second half to a comfortable 41-14 win.

I really wish the Cats would stop playing road games like this, I get the New Mexico game, but at Utah Tech, that's laughable

If you want to get regional FCS opponents to come to Bozeman for non-conference games you're going to have to schedule home and home agreements with at least some of them. Since moving up from D-II Utah Tech has played and/or scheduled home and homes with Sac, Weber, UC Davis, NAU, Idaho, Idaho State, and UM in addition to the series with MSU that ends this year.

score first four drives - 2 rb's score td's on long ru of 40+ yards. tommy throws 2 td's in the red zone. 3 defensive sacks and 2 first downs for tech. 28-0 all four kickoffs out of end zone and 4 for 4 extra points.

tommy and most of starters sit. final score 55 -10

And isn't this the 1 in the 2-for-1 deal with them?

If the 2020 game that was cancelled due to Covid was part of the series that included the 2023 and 2024 games, then yes. It doesn't appear that MSU and UTU are currently scheduled to play each other after this year.

My prediction is that at some point during the game... on the gameday thread... we will have fans on BN arguing based off how the New Mexico GameDay thread went

I will throw out my guess. CATS will roll 48-10.

Massey has the CATS 42-20. They bumped the CATS to #3.

If we win out and the gris win out do we stay one spot ahead of them?

I hope not…I’d rather see the cats blow out a griz team seeded one spot ahead of the cats than blowing out a team seeded below us, since it’ll hopefully help boost the cats jumping to the 1 spot at the end of the season.

If Cats win out aren't they almost guaranteed at least the 2 seed. We will have beat the gris and ether SDSU or NDSU would have an FCS loss because they play each other. Somebody tell me if I am missing something.

Teams almost always show improvement for game 2. The Cats will roll. It will be hot with 99 as the forecasted high. Elevation is not a factor. It is a good thing that the game starts at 8PM. 66-10 Cats.

Really didn't notice much cramping Saturday from either team. Scottre for Cats and a couple Lobos.

Wasn't it the last time the Bobcats beat an FBS team they came out the next week and laid a big egg. I don't think it will happen this year. Cats 55, Southern Momos 14.
