O Line injuries?

So it sounds like we are kinda beat up heading into the first game? Anyone have any updates or status? Will everyone be ready to go?

-Perkins……. Sounds like an ankle injury? This would be a huge loss if he is out for a while, hopefully not.

-Reed…. Hand or something? I’m assuming he will be ok?

-sain…. Has he been practicing, I think people said he is nursing some kind of injury?

Anyone else I’m missing?…..

Al Johnson’s tweet from yesterday gives some clues based as some guys aren’t dressed out.

Half of the two deep (5 players) was out by the end of Saturday's scrimmage. Sain, Rollins, Perkins, Reed, and Mastel.

Not a great start to the season. "Not season ending by any means" could mean a ton of things. Could be 2 months, could be 2 weeks. Fingers crossed.

I would guess closer to 2 months.

Best get this dilemma solved PDQ.

I will admit to being wrong about Perkins. I’ve never thought his small size would work. His brain overcomes his stature.

Yuck. Well it sounds like it's probably highly unlikely that he'll play against UNM..... which really sucks because that's probably our toughest game for the next two months, and we really need to win that one to start off on the right track for getting a #1 or #2 seed heading into the tourney. Ya, ya, I know I'm jumping way ahead. Hopefully the coaches get the right player in there that can get it done until JP returns.

Sounds like Sain and Reed are back, or at least should be ready for game 1, so that is good.

Hey, we've got a 200 lb long snapper on the roster. Give him a shot. What could go wrong?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but hadn’t Sain played before? If so, probably not too much to worry about with the experience he brings.

Yes, Sain was a starting guard in 2022 but suffered a knee injury during the season.

And did someone say Sain might be able to play center, or did I imagine that? I assume Zac Nyland will start against UNM, somewhat nervous about that as he's a Freshman... unless someone else has other info about some possible shuffling.

I could see Sain moving to Center for that game ... OL could reshuffle to:
LT - Connor Moore
LG - Reed
C - Sain
RG - Wehr
RT - Jefferson / Fleischmann

My bad, I meant to say “played center.” I know he’s played guard just couldn’t remember if he had played center. Would be nice if we had an experienced guy with game experience at that position.

Sain has played/practiced at center before.

Cole Sain is currently listed as "Offensive Guard/Center" on our roster. If he's healthy I'd feel great with him, one of our biggest guys.

When Sain was practicing at center, posters were thinking that the coaches were looking to replace Perkins due to his lack of size, as I recall. I think it was when Reed was an up and coming star and Wehr(?) was the other guard. My memory isn’t crystal clear on this.

I see where Perkins is listed as the no. 1 player in the country wearing 65.

Did anyone hear ayn more on Perkins? Not looking for any inside info here because I know injuries sometimes need to be kept on the down low. just wondering if there was any public statement after his evaluation that I missed.
