Cat-Griz tickets

First, let me introduce myself as the dad of an incoming MSU freshman. I believe in getting the bad stuff out of the way first, so yes, we come from a large state on the left coast that many people don't like. I don't love it either but here I am.

Anyway - we are huge football fans. When my daughter decided on MSU (pretty much the first time we visited, a year ago) we started following the team. Watched most games last year. She will definitely be huge in the cheering section. I got into following FCS in general as a result and I loved it.

It would be awesome to get to Bozeman for Cat-Griz, it is just before Thanksgiving and we are trying to make a family trip of it. (My wife has siblings in Helena and Kalispell, trying to build my Montana cred with you all)

Obviously I will try to get them through the single game sale on 8/5 but my confidence level is low and I assume I will need to go secondary market. I will need 6 tickets. Don't care if they are good or really if they are together. Just want to get in.

Just looking for a ballpark on what that might end up costing me on seatgeek, etc. $100 each? $350? As a newcomer I have no idea what the market is like.

Thank you all and GO CATS!

Unless you know someone that is already a donor with a decently high priority point ranking I doubt you will be able to get any directly from MSU. Cat/Griz will not be on sale to general public on 8/5 like other games.

There will be plenty on the secondary market but just be patient. It's essentially the biggest event in Montana and people like to price as such. Don't buy super early, wait for them to come down. Likely not what you would want to do, but I usually tell people that don't need the assurance of having a ticket early to just come to the tailgates and wander. Lots of tickets being sold usually and the closer it gets to game time the cheaper they get.

Can anyone on here confirm that there were tickets available from scalpers at the stadium, on game day, before the 2022 Cat Griz game, for a reasonable price? I guess I have no idea whether that is accurate or not. Thanks.

For our group, we basically won't let people in our seats sell them for exorbitant prices. We'd rather see cool people in our seats than see people make a few hundred. we buy the seats at face value from friends. So find a group like us! Tell your daughter to hit up the tailgates. Make friends with fellow students with parents in large tailgate groups. Maybe something will work itself out that way too. Though only if that's in her comfort zone.

First of all, welcome! I love that a new student from out of state is not just becoming a Cat fan, but bringing along new Cat fans with them.

Maybe just try telling people here that you're "from South of Spokane" and leave it at that. But seriously there are lots of great people from your state and we all know it, we're just trying to keep Montana all to ourselves!

Tickets will be hard to come by and won't be cheap, but it's worth it. The atmosphere at a Cat-griz game is hard to beat, and I've been to quite a few SEC and PAC-12 games. People pay $200 or more for tickets to concerts all the time. I'm a live music lover, but I'd take a Cat-griz experience any day, especially when both teams are good.

This rivalry is truly one of the best in all of sports. Not because 22,000 people is a lot in a stadium, because that's small potatoes. Not because it's high-level football, because it doesn't compare to bigger schools in that way. It's really one of the biggest events in MT, and possibly THE biggest. It's in-state and since this state is so small, it feels very personal. Everybody went to high school with multiple fans of the other side, and probably know several people who play or have played for each team. The accessibility that the average person has to coaches and players doesn't happen at the higher levels. Bottom line is, don't be afraid to spend a little money.

What event(s) do you think are on par with Cat/gris football weekend in the State of Montana?

All I got for you is Saint Patrick’s Day in Butte? Can’t think of anything else that would be bigger, especially on an annual basis.

If you wait until the last moment, that will be the cheapest.

You have to get creative to get Cat/griz tickets. Unless things have changed players get 2 tickets to each game. I would say your best bet would be to have your daughter start dating a football player. Preferably one from out of state who's parents won't be coming to the Cat/griz game.

So even at THAT game there were tickets available just for the average Joe heading in there? I'm just wondering for future reference if my family and friends get into a bind for this season... because I sure didn't see anyone selling any tickets that day. Thanks for the info.

Our tailgate is (well used to be :( ) right outside what used to be the ticket office/will call and then became the BAC with will call. I've never not seen people out there in front selling tix, including the last Cat/Griz. Now I can't speak to how much they were trying to charge or anything, but they were there.

Okay this confuses me because I’ve heard otherwise from both the ticket office and the bobcat club. The ticket office said that they have those tickets available for regular price on 8/5 and the bobcat club said that they only have 500 tickets available for priority point members.

Doing some simple math: 21000 seats - 13000 season tix - 500 bobcat club tix = 7500 available tickets to the public.

Can someone 100% verify that they will not be available to the general public? Preferably someone who tried to buy them in 2022?

For reference, I called both offices within the last month. Hopefully I didn’t just mishear or misunderstand but I tried to be crystal clear because I’m also planning a trip and we’ve got a hotel reserved but tickets are kinda necessary to make the trip work 😅

I think there are some young people who attend classes at the university this football team represents that enjoy going to the games too.

I was going to add, at a bare minimum, take 4000 tickets of those out for the student allotment.

Still though, if the 500 ticket figure is correct, then the answer is still “Yes there are GA tickets available.”

I mean, unless there are only 500 GA tickets available for *every* game.

Do we have to provide some for the school of dance? They can't bring their band this year so that should free some up.

Where we go to Church here in CdA, when people ask where we are from the answer is South of Boise. Lots of us there are from South of Boise

Hey, if you are getting that from the Bobcat Club and ticket office then maybe they are making a change for this year. In the past extra Cat/Griz tickets were not opened up to the public, they were offered based on priority points so I was just speaking from history.
