Chambers & The Playoff Gameplan

Hi team,
Sorry I this has been beat to death but I didn't see a different thread dedicated to this...
Do we know why Chambers was effectively benched against the Griz...after being effectively benched against Idaho? Am I the only one that feels like his absence and the fact we lost both games is directly related?
If he's not injured...and Vigen just couldn't "find ways to work him in", how do we correct that? He's a 2 time Big Sky Player of the Week and more than just a great compliment to Tommy...he can totally change and drive the offense. I feel like we really need him involved.
Does anybody have thoughts/insight on this?

To me, even if they want Tommy to receive majority of the snaps, I’m for at the very least have Chambers trot out there and receive the first couple of snaps to start the game. With these slow starts in big games just think there needs to be a change of some sort and with some of Chambers explosive plays and games let’s just see if he can get things kicked off to a quicker start and then if they want Tommy to take the majority of snaps then fine.

I’ve seen it posted on here several times this year. The coaching staff is not setting our guys up for success when Tommy and company drives down the field and then gives the red zone to Chambers. Somebody with the stats should correlate the Chambers sub in the red zone with points scored. It is without a doubt statistically significant in the wrong direction.
I’m confident in both of them.
If we are going to play them both, they each get their own series. The whole thing.

If I had to guess its probably that Sean is a little more careless with the ball than Tommy. Sean has thrown 6 picks in 160 passing attempt as a 'Cat, while over the same 2 seasons, Tommy has thrown 5 in 360 attempts. (And IIRC 2 of those were against Oregon State, an elite FBS defense). Tommy also has a slightly higher completion percentage, although a substantially lower yards per attempt.
Part of it is I know Vigen places a really high priority on keeping the ball.
Another part is that for some inexplicable reason Vigen & Co are convinced that when you have one of the most dynamic offenses in the country, the best gameplay is to limit the number of possessions that offense has. These guys are perfectly happy with running 50 plays in a game (when IMO given the playmakers MSU has, they should be running hurry up & shooting for 70 or so plays per game)...At any rate, if your goal is to limit the number of offensive plays you run, you by nature limit the number of chances for your 2nd stringers at all positions, QB in particular.
Thats my best guess. But I agree with the gist of the thread. Sean is clearly one of the best football players on the team. If he's not on the field for 20-30 snaps, thats a problem (also a problem for Tommy not to be on the field for 30-40 snaps).

When Chambers starts a game, or plays significant snaps, he plays extremely well. If we want to use him effectively, start him, or put him early and often. In my opinion, last weekend was less than blah play calling, not be aggressive when needled, and marginal play. If we want to make the next step, we need to get a little more creative. Use Tommy and Chambers equally.

I will be interested to see if this happens in playoffs as Vigen alluded to there needing to be evaluation of the unbalanced reps. Letting each guy have a series makes alot of sense, for consistency sake for all the other guys on the field if not for their own consistency and confidence.

This! Related to the perplexing stubbornness in other posts.

Housewright gets tunnel vision when the stakes are high and things don't go our way. The plan on Saturday wasn't any different than any other week when both QBs are healthy, but the playcalling and playbook fell apart early and never recovered.

Lets be honest, if we win BN loves the game plan. If we lose, BN hates it.

Let's be honest, if the game plan doesn't suck, we win (or lose by a foot).

It’s playoff time. Play them both at the same time. Time to quit screwing around.

Ha! Imagine the implosion on here if they both got hurt in the same play.

Have to do something to give you the best shot to win because what’s going on now isn’t working. Players can hurt anytime. Would those nay sayers say they should stop practicing because someone got hurt in practice?

Don’t hex it!!! Play the percentages. It’s 99.9999995% not going to happen. As has been mentioned previously, it’s one & done time and the dice need to be rolled.

Tom made this point on another thread. Sometimes theres nothing wrong with the play call, its just poorly executed (or the other team wins a 1 on 1 matchup)...sometimes the play call can be totally wrong & the players bail out the coach.
The reality is pretty complicated.
