It doesn’t really matter yet but voters paying attention should vote Cats #2. NDSU doesn’t have a win like this on their resume.

I think they will stay #3 but when SDSU beats NDSU the cats will move to #2. But honestly I could see MSU, SDSU and NDSU all lose a game during the rest of the season. Undefeated seasons are actually pretty rare. But no matter the record, nobody is going to want to play the cats in the playoffs.Prodigal Cat wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 9:10 pmIt doesn’t really matter yet but voters paying attention should vote Cats #2. Not at 3-5 which they definitely have a chance at.catgrad05 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 10:07 pmseataccat wrote: ↑Sat Sep 23, 2023 9:44 pmI think they will stay #3 but when SDSU beats NDSU the cats will move to #2. The gris do because that means they can still buy their way into the field in the first round

That's actually a good point. So hypothetically if the Cats can manage to win out, and SDSU beats NDSU but NDSU wins all their other games, does everyone think the Cats would be a lock as the #2 seed..... or is it possible the committee would still give it to NDSU to set up the SDSU NDSU rematch in Frisco? That would tick me off.
It depends on the outcome. Our game was close and ended on the final play. If that game is close then maybe there is no change in ranking. But if one team is in control on the 4th, then we jump the lower and thus host until Frisco. If we, and hopefully do, win out.catatac wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 9:59 amThat's actually a good point. Unfortunately that's probably how it will play out other than the fact that MSU played SDSU so close that there could be enough curiosity for how the game would go a 2nd time. Alot of season left to see how it all plays out.catatac wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 9:59 amThat's actually a good point. If ndsu wins out, that would include a win over sdsu, which means MSU would still end up at 3. There's no way we would jump either of the xDsu's if ndsu won out and SDSU's only loss was ndsu.CelticCat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 12:30 pmMSU should jump a #2 on a bye with the way we won. I used to say it doesn’t really matter but it kind of does. This might be the only chance to hop them if NDSU and MSU both end up winning out. And that does factor into seeding, not a big part I don’t think but it does.
Would really help if NDSU would drop another game as well. At this point unless SDSU loses 2 and beats NDSU. We really want them to win out.91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 1:04 pmIf ndsu wins out, that would include a win over sdsu, which means MSU would still end up at 3. We need sdsu to beat ndsu, and worse than they beat us.
You never know. With the committee and their recent decisions though, you are probably right. However the Cats would have a better resume than SDSU even with a loss to them. The Western Oregon win for SDSU gets thrown out, which would make them 9-1 vs. the FCS.91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 1:04 pmIf ndsu wins out, that would include a win over sdsu, which means MSU would still end up at 3.
