The sports network has announced their preseason Payton and Buchanan award watch lists for the top Offensive and Defensive I-AA players. Roger Cooper has been named to the Buchanan list and is the only Bobcat on either watch list. Other Big Sky representatives include: Erik Meyer, QB, Eastern Washington; Jason Murrietta, QB, Northern Arizona; Craig Ochs, QB, Montana for the Payton award and Brady Fosmark, DL, Weber State for the Buchanan award.

I hope Lulay comes out and smokes all those QB's

Good to see Meyer on there. I think he's gonna be awesome here in a year or so (is already pretty much).

I don't know if Lulay will ever have the splashy stats that are required to win the Payton award. All he does is win!
I also wonder if Ochs can stay consistantly healthy enough to also get the stats required.

There's a rumor that Ochs isn't playing this weekend. I could be sick.

I heard Jeff Disney has improved alot from last year. He was the QB in Montana's win over Maine in 2003 but then again the offense didn't really come to play that afternoon.....

I hope so, but I'll still be pissed if Ochs isn't healthy. I've got my fingers crossed for Disney but I'd love to see Ochs reach his potential.

CTOWM - remember hack is notorious for spreading game week rumors.

Hauck would not ask Ochs to tape up his thumb, keep him out of parts of practice, keep him out of a scrimmage, and feed this info to the media just to trow off Maine. Give me a break. Ochs clearly did a number on his thumb, Maine probably doesn't care who plays QB.
Ochs may or may not play, but if he doesn't it is to get him healed up. If he does play, and is hurt then it is because we need him.

Ochs is one of the toughest kids I've ever seen. Unless he simply can't grip the ball, he'd play - unles told to do otherwise.

With Ochs as there starter, the Griz are absolutly blessed to have Disney on the roster. I would be willing to put up big money that Ochs will not be able to play every game this season. He will get injured sooner or later, and Disney is a luxury to be able to come off the bench. The only problem is that Disney is also injury prone andIi think one of the chearleaders is listed as third on the depth chart.

As a Cat fan msla, I really think that making jokes about another team's lack of depth beyond the 2-Deep at QB falls under the category of bad karma.

Remember this where we talk news not smack. If you want to talk smack there is a forum for that. Don't make bad karma here.

Ouch!
I actually thought I was giving them a compliment. Granted I made a little funny at the end but....
Listen the Griz find themselves in a unique situation (well unique for most d-1aa schools) where they have two quality quarterback on scholie's. On a pure talent basis it would be tough to find a better 1-2 quarterbacks in the conference, but while they are rich in the two deep, with transfers over the off season of two back-up qb's they have been left pretty gosh darn thin. This was highlighted by the Missoulain this Sunday.
I do not know if this will set my "football quarterback karma" right, but all of you "football karma" worring types out there to para phrase Tom Hanks in the movie A League of their Own
"Karma! There is no Karma in football!!"

After watching Coppack play at the scrimmage Saturday, all I can say is we better pray every night Lulay stays healthy. If you have in anyway jinxed that mslacat, I will make it my personal life long goal to make sure you live a horrible living nightmare. In the nicest possible way.

Yep, I still have 2 more years. Just got back into Missoula Sunday night, I put it off as long as possible! I will be back in Bozeman most weekends this fall, however, for football and work.
