Both of these guys Durham has been on for a while but recently bigger schools have come into play UNLV for Moss and St. Louis for Newborne. If Durham does not sign a top notch forward within the first week of the signing period it most likely won't happen

My info from the Drew Arnold, the 6-9 center forward from Arizona, and the above info comes from two complete sources. Drew's info comes from Arizona and the JC guys above comes from Montana. I hear Durham will sign two players. He really hopes to sign one of the two JC guys mentioned above and a "shooter". That said their is the feeling that MSU has not had very good luck signing JC big men late into the signing period, so if they haven't got a great solid commitment from a JC big man when the period starts, they will most likely go with the best option available early instead of waiting on the possiblity of waiting for a canidate to make up thier mind and signing them later or losing someone else early. Arnold looks like a solid player, he said before he that MSU was his favorite, but had one more trip to make before making a desition. If he was offered, like he says, from MSU I would guess Durham would honor it and sign him if he commited before filling any of the two scholarships.
It is also said that Durham may sign a very promissing "walk-on" this spring.

Cross Newborne off the list. He does not want to come this far west. As far as Moss it is between MSU and Quinnipiac.
Moss was up during the Sac state game and really likes the atmosphere.

Of cource all information contained here-in is all rumor and should be treated as such.

I am not going to start a new thread for this but just add on to this one. Someone asked about 6-9 Drew Arnold a High school senior who has tripped to MSU and is being recruited by Durham. Current word out of Arizona is thet Texas Tech has just entered the picture and, has asked him to take a trip their before signing.

No doubt, he is always up here stealing fish, he likes our recruits, maybe we should offer him a job up here. Wouldn't this be his dream place to semi-retire. He could fish all spring and summer and coach hoops in the fall and winter.

I am desperate for a new coach!

update

Update on Vas'shun Newborne:

Chris Jans has sent many players to the Division I ranks in his tenure as a junior college coach, so he kind of has an idea when a player is ready to commit.

Jans met with Vas'shun Newborne after the 6-5 forward's visit to St. Louis this past weekend, and he could pretty much tell there wouldn't be the need for more official visits.

"Vas'shun had a different tone, he was very excited when he got back from his trip," Jans told JUCO Junction on Tuesday. "He felt comfortable, so he made his decision and cancelled visits to Central Florida and South Alabama."

A native of Natchez, Miss., Newborne had already visited Southeast Louisiana (March 25-26) and Northern Iowa (Apr. 8-10) prior to his St. Louis trip (Apr. 16-18). He unofficially visited South Alabama in late March.

Newborne averaged 11.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in 2003-2004, shooting 53 percent from the floor, 31 percent beyond the arc and 57 percent from the foul line.

While the stats illustrate Newborne's solid game, they only tell a bit of the story. Over the past two years at Howard College (Texas) and Chipola, Newborne has been a part of almost 60 victories. This year's Indians team placed sixth at the NJCAA Tournament.

"Coach Soderberg is very particular about what kind of player he brings into the program," Jans said. "In Vas'shun, he has an intangibles guy with great character."

"He's a model student-athlete with a strong work ethic and toughness," Jans continued. "He's a textbook defender with good practice habits."

Newborne will have two years of athletic eligibility at St. Louis, beginning with the 2004-2005 season.
