Nice to see the Cats getting some respect.
Didn't JMU lose there head coach as well? I'm a little surprised to see them jump NDSU.

BSC with 5 in the top 25.

How the heck does um make the top 25? End of last season they barely got a vote.

I think MSU is better than at least five teams ranked ahead of it.

It’s almost comical at this point. They will continue to get preseason love because of their name.
They may be decent this upcoming year, but nothing from last season should have them in the top 25 right now.

UC Davis at #7 plays early at Nevada-Reno. Saw on one Reno site where they were thinking their schedule may be weak. Sounds like they are not taking the Aggies seriously. Anticipating that game.

Yes, had to chuckle at the griz ranking. They really have not proved anything. Like some of their fanbase is saying, just give hauck a few seasons and they will return to their greatness (my emphasis)... Well, time will tell.

I doubt that any other polls will have the Griz in the top 25. I think we will be right around the 15 spot in most polls as well.

How did they leave Kennesaw State off that list?

They had to pull someone off to make room for the vaunted griz program...

Looking at Kennesaw's schedule and they are setting themselves up for success. Besides an easy opener against an NAIA squad they have a winnable game against FBS Kent State and a couple of decent FCS out of conference games (Alabama State and Missouri State.) Follow that with another NAIA game! Then they overwhelm a weak conference. Kennesaw State will get a FCS tournament seed with no worse than a 10-2 record, but there schedule is such that nobody will know for sure if they are any good.

I would never discourage anyone from romping on the griz, but in reality they lost three games by a total of ten points. One of those was the last "no play" of the game vs. the Cats . "Coulda-shoulda 9-2". They deserve our attention.

True, but the schedule they have in 2019 versus 2018 is BRUTAL. Their QB is a tough sumbitch but he takes way too many hits. He was very luck to last the season last yer. Unless their O Line is leaps and bounds better than what it was last year he won't last the season.

Definitely have to agree - irregardless of schedule strength, they played us quite even last year, and Bobby is as good of a recruiter as Coach Choate is and a proven commodity. I can only see their offensive line getting better as Bobby has recruited it well in the past.

Well, they also won two of their games by a total of ten points. If you are going to count their close losses as possible wins, then shouldn't you also count their close wins as possible losses? They coulda-shoulda been 4-7.

I agree, I’m in no way saying they’re going to be a bad team. I think they’ll be a solid team. I expect them to have a winning record next season, although they do have a brutal schedule.

But they’re now 4 years removed from a playoff appearance. They finished last year with 2 votes, basically ranked 37th.
What between that poll and this poll has happened that would put them in the top 25?

The answer is they have the Montana name and a coach with the name Hauck. Those two things are the reason they’re in a top 25 preseason poll.

Yep, that too..but one of those wins was over then #13 Northern Iowa 26-23.

I don't know if Hauck is as good of a recruiter as Choate. Me might be but we'll see. Time will tell.

UM is probably a tougher sell now than it was the first time around for Hauck. The first time they were coming off two NCs and four NC appearances in eight years. The past eight haven’t been anything like that.

Obviously UNI was overrated in the preseason polls, since they finished out of the top 25 and out of the playoffs.
And, that was the first game of the season and first game back for Hauck. Nobody had any film on them yet. The griz jumped out to a 26-0 lead in the first half, and in typical 2018 Griz form, lost the 2nd half 23-0. So yes they got the win but it wasn't as good as you make it sound.

I'm sure the griz will have a decent team next year, and Sneed is a playmaker who will give them a chance in any game. But they are not currently a top 4 team in the conference.
