Sit Dissly?

Maybe it's time to try starting Durr instead of Dissly. Dissly played the most minutes of anyone last night, 35, but hit just 3-9 shots, had 8 pts, 4 rebs, 2 ass, 3 tos. That is the definition of lack of productivity, esp. for someone with all that talent. Maybe he can be a better player coming in off the bench splitting time with Durr.

This is but one problem of many for this team. They need to focus on and stay with their game plan.

How many shots did Durr take? We have a couple of players who cannot get shots. They play decent defense but are useless if we need offense from them.

Two years ago I would have agreed with you, but I don't see Dis doing anything to create his own offense...OR offense for other people.

Dis basically camps outside the 3pt line and waits for someone to find him for an open look....that's basically the same thing that Durr does, except for durr has been knocking them down this year, and Durr plays defense.

It seems to me that Dissly has gotten worse every year. He looked great his first year. Last year he was really streaky, but was probably the best passer on the team. This year he isn't shooting or passing well. Really the only part of Dissly's game that has improved is his rebounding.

Maybe start Pratt instead of Dissly. I know I am harping on this, but the kid can play if he would only get a chance.

Pratt can play if given a chance. He would do well and having 3 kids makes for a good attitude on the court. He should get more minutes. I hate to say bench Nick Dissly because I've known him since middle school and I know he's a great player, but something needs to happen. His problem is confidence and if he's benched, that could kill the rest of his confidence. I say let him start against South Dakota St. on Monday and then let Mick decide if Diss is worthy of starting against Weber in the conference opener or if Carson Durr or Taylor Pratt should be starting.

I suppose the maddening thing for Durham is inconsistency. Dissly disappears some nights and others he's the star (Denver-overtime). Moss is pathetic against NDSU, but makes a big contribution against San Jose. Morris is unstoppable against NDSU and ineffective against San Jose. Jefferson is great against NDSU and a liability against San Jose.

I think Edmonds needs to be out there more-I think he's the most consisitent outside shooter we have. Every shot he shoots looks to have a chance-it's not the same with Durham, Jefferson, and Dissly who you can tell from the second they let it go if it's a brick-and it most often is a brick except when they get a little hot streak going now and then.

I wouldn't mind seeing Durr at the three a little more-but Durham uses him to spell Moss at the four. I think Pratt could have helped us a lot against NDSU. He has the ability to jump over players and has a nice half-hook. Moss tries to go around players and doesn't jump very well-he can't get his shot off when he's double-teamed which has been often this season. I'd love to see Pratt get some meaningful minutes at the 4 spot-especially when Moss is struggling. With Pratt and Beye inside at the same time we have two of the better shot blockers MSU has ever had. Though I suppose Durham doesn't like that neither player is very physical.

I agree totally!

Jefferson will be OK...he is the only one that will take it to the hole off the dribble. If it wasn't for him teams just need to cover the 3 point arc and camp three guys in the paint! A triangle and two would work great!

Edmonds needs to start instead of Durham. The lineup should be Moss, Beye, Jefferson, Edmonds, and Dissly.

Couldn't disagree more. Edmonds is great coming off the bench, but he is NOT a point guard...neither is Jefferson.

You would be right. Durham is the point guard.

And Happy New Year to you and all of the Bobcat Nation.

A little off thread, but I talked to my older son in Santa Rosa a couple hours ago and it sounds like it's pretty damn damp down there. He has a house in Sac, but is on a temp job west of Santa Rosa for the next 12-14 months, so the company rented he and his new bride a house. They drove down to Sac last night for a Kings game & he said it wasn't a fun trip.

It sure wouldn't hurt to start Durr tonight...but not for Dissly. He started against Denver.....not sure who sat then. He needs more time. He is shooting very well and it would be nice to see what he could do at home with quality time. He has not been playing Dissly's position.....maybe for Moss; a wake up call if nothing else!

Durr came in a bit vs SJSU and looked a little shaky to me. Bobbled the ball a couple times and didn't do anything when he had it. But I will agree something needs to kick start this team.

Not one of the starters is a defensive stopper. Matter of a fact, non play very good defense at all. Thus when Mick sends in Durr and Morris it is mainly for defense. Any points they get are "extras." Without these two our record would be much worse than otherwise.

If he was a point guard I would agree. Casey is the starting point guard period. Wilson is not ready, really could have used the redshirt season. What Casey needs to realize that he should lead the team....not in shots; but as a leader. He is shooting 37/125 through the NDSU game - .296. The Cats need him to pass the ball and run the offense, not score. Also, Moss must start to produce the all-conference numbers he should be. His slow start is a major reason for the 6-7 record.

Do you still think Dissly should sit 25 points and 9 rebounds last night :?:

He is a player that we need out on the court as much as possible HE IS A WINNER!!!. I think he has been struggling early but I really believe he is going to come on now that conference has started.

GREAT JOB CATS.

Also it did not hurt that Casey finally figured out the role of the point guard is to distribute that balnot crank it up. =D^

Wow he has his first outstanding gme of the year and you are all over his N*ts. I am super happy for Nick but if he comes out on sat and has a 10 point game, plays defense, rebounds, and gets some steals I will be happy. You cannot say that everyone wasn't fed up with his performance and he needed an attitude adjustment. Its a good thing he realized that he needs to pull his own weight for this team to do anything, but its the same concept as now that the cats are 1-0 in conference wouldn't everyone agree that we should keep Durham?

I don't care how good the cats do this year I still would like to see new blood

The thread started as a consideration. If he can just do half as well as he did last night, I'd say keep him as the starter. However, this was the best game of his career. Maybe he can get on a run ala Scotta Morton(?) who keeps topping her career best every night for three staight games. Or was that someone else.
