NDSU v. Montana State -- Chapter 2!

December 29th is coming upon us fast and it will be the final clash of the Bison and the Bobcats for 2005! This should be a good one. Montana State will have the home court advantage in going against a young, young, young North Dakota State hoops team. (Did I say these guys are young?) NDSU has struggled this year getting the wins when they are on the oppositions court. I think this is from a lack of maturity by this Bison team. That being said, NDSU can be a very dangerously explosive team. Freshmen Ben Woodside is the biggest scoring threat. He is automatic from the free throw line and is deadly from the 3 point line as well. 6'7" jr. Andre Smith is also a scoring threat inside.

NDSU has just suffered two losses. A quick and talented Manhattan team beat the Bison 76-62 on 12-18. Then Idaho handed the Bison another loss on 12-21 by a score of 71-76. The big question for the Bison fans is whether or not the break from 12-21 to 12-29 will let this team rest up so they bring thier best game to Bozeman. I am sure this will be one exciting shoot out between the SU neighbors!

I'm looking forward to this one. I'd like to see if NDSU can compete at the Big Sky level, hopefully for future expansion of the conference. It's a good NDSU team that's coming in and it should be a great matchup.

I think NDSU has a loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers this year-though the Bison did play them tough. I've been pretty impressed with their results. Their coach did a smart thing in redshirting his entire freshman class during their transitional year.

The Cats are starting to gel. Look for a great effort by MSU tonight! 8)

The big thing that our team needs to get over are the 6-8 minute lulls in the second half. We will be playing well, and then all of a sudden we won't make a shot for a 8 minute span and the other team will either catch up, or pull away...it usually happens at about the 15 minute mark of the 2nd half. If we can avoid these cold streaks that have been a problem this season, I think we'll do very well.

No kidding, wbtfg. The Bobcats could have been 8-3 or so if they could just put together complete games. I'm looking forward to this contest and also hopefully I can get a look at a future conference opponent. Tonight's game should be a good contest and I hope the renewal of a great rivalry. I'll be there--who else is going?

Hope We Win

Swilly, get out of your basement. Your mom is calling you for dinner. By the way, isn't there a Star Trek marathon you should be watching right now?

That is all you have for a comeback? That is pretty weak. By the way, the Cats played pretty terrible tonight, so don't think that they will be a pushover when it comes to Cat/Griz time.

To me, not everything has to be a diss, I like to have fun with it. Its called growing up, any BTW why did u just diss me? For me pointing out that the cats are losing?

I never said that they are going to be a pushover either, never are when its cat griz time.

Three things lost this game for the cats:

1) Marvin Moss had quite possibly his worst game as a Bobcat, going 2-11 from the field. He was shortarming every shot. His head was definately not in the game. Should have been pulled and Pratt should have played in his place. He attempted 3 threes, and made one of them (go figure)

2) Casey Durham. Yes, he made a couple threes, but missed about five, including the last attmept. He did have 6 assists and only 3 TO's however.

3) Again, the refs come through with a subpar performance. Never in my life have I seen so many over the back fouls not called. That, and they (the refs) were terrible on both ends of the floor. I mean TERRIBLE.

Other items of note:

Outrebounded 34-30. This is misleading because of the over the back fouls that were not called on the bison.

They turned the ball over 25 times. And won.

They shot 50% from 3 (10-20), 55% overall.

We shot 33% from 3 (8-24), 45% overall.

The Cats missed so many bunnies, most of which were by Moss.

Bright spots:

The Cats came back from down 12 to take the lead.

Ted and Al combined for 28 points on 12-15 shooting, and went a combined 4-6 from the FT stripe.

Dissly scored 6 points, had 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

Edmonds went 2-2 behind the arc.

Jefferson scored 17 quietly (again).

Im sure I'll think about more stuff to comment on. This was another close loss, and VERY frustrating from a fans POV. I can only imagine what the team must feel like.
