Wow, sounds like a fun one to watch (at least the last 2 seconds). Looking forward to updating the Sags thread tomorrow to see the rise begin.BelgradeBobcat wrote:Durham hits a half court three at the buzzer to win it. Portland had taken the lead with a 3 with 2 seconds left.
It didn't need to be this close, but we again missed a bunch of freethrows and they got to the line something like 29 times.
This team is going to drive us all crazy.

That was ridiculous! I just got back from the game.
Portland hits a 3 with 2 seconds left. We called a TO and have to take the ball out under their basket. Inbounded to Durhamn near halfcourt, he makes a move around his man and hits a running 3 pointer from about half court! Insane!

INFO from the game.
Jacques Wilson was in, has he been in before? He is FAST and creates. He saw limited playing time, but he is going to be very good for this team. Dribbles well and runs hella fast.
We rebounded well tonight, but I attribute that to the fact that Portland had a pretty weak inside game.
We were dominating (and we weren't shooting that many threes - Moss went off inside and so did Beye, and even Morris put a few nice ones in), but our D started slacking and they were getting wide open looks from inside the arc, and started to catch fire.
Our shot selection, for the most part, was pretty good tonight. Edmonds likes to turn and shoot threes, and shoot poorly tonight, but he can hit those. He is a sharpshooter.
Beye had at least 2 monster dunks in our half court set. He got the crowd fired up. Dissly had a huge dunk or two himself, and was hammered for a flagrant foul as he went up. He didn't shoot well at all though.
Jefferson - what can I say, our rock and steady hand.
Moss took it to the rim several times and played hard and physical ball, and shot well from outside the paint as well.
Durham - worries me a little when he is guarded full-court press style, but made nice decisions tonight and rarely shot the ball, except for the most important one of all.
We also took care of the ball very well, we didn't throw it away, especially in the 2nd half.
Overall, the best I have seen us play (or heard) all year, but we still need some improvements in several areas of the game, INCLUDING FREE THROWS!
Crowd was 3010.

So the Bobcats needed a miracle shot to beat an also-ran from the WCC?
Well, a win is a win. Hopefully they can bottle the first 30 minutes of play and apply it to conference play.
Great win by the 'Cats! Let's hope they can build on it. The description brings to mind Scott Hurley's heave against the Griz.

What a game! Durham's winner may do good things for the team in the near future. It's good to start off a homestand with a win, and a half-court buzzer beater can spark a run for the team. CelticCat beat me to the observations though, but I'd like to add a few.
Derrick Edmonds was very impressive tonight and made some very positive contributions, especially on the offensive end. Jacques Wilson did a good job in his first game. He's a very promising player and I heard good things about him coming out of Century High School in Pocatello.
Nick Dissly had really a pretty good game and just wait until the shots start falling! He didn't score much, but everything else seemed to be in place.
JaRon Jefferson was solid and Marvin Moss looked like the Marvin Moss we've all come to expect from last year. He had a great game.
There were some nice contributions from Al Beye, Carson Durr, and Casey Durham. Durham was ok, but that half court shot was one for the ages. Wow.
Also, not to start another rumor thread, but I was talking to former Bobcat PJ Owsley for a while and he admitted that he'd like to return to the Bobcats next season. I hope the coaching staff gets on that soon. It would be great to see PJ back in the blue-and-gold. An interesting observation that he made to me was when something went wrong for the Bobcats, he said that the players didn't execute the coaches' desired plan. In conclusion, I'm happy about this win, but there needs to be some major improvement and that will come against Denver on Thursday, I hope. This was one wild game, I tell you what.
On a personal note, those of you at the game saw me on the court tonight. I was one of the participants in the Johnny Carino's race for a $40 gift certificate. I finished second or lost, however you want to look at it. I also got really lucky and won the cell phone and free service for a year. That was awesome (I don't have a cell phone now) but it would be almost worthless without a Bobcat win. Thanks, Casey. What a night!

The race where you had to put on the jerseys? I was behind you against the wall sitting by my lonesome in a gray shirt.bozbobcat wrote:What a game! Yeah, that was the race. It wasn't my best moment on the court, but I've had worse. I've been out there for several promotions and once I missed a layup. I even heard about that one from my grandma. Ouch! But I made one of those Pepsi layups a few years back. But it was kind of fun to go out there, I just don't have the wheels. Perhaps we'll meet one day at a game, CelticCat.

According to the article in the Interlake, MSU led by 16 with about 13 minutes to play.
Would someone please tell me how this team that was supposed to be so talented, deep, and experienced allowed Portland to outscore them by 17 points in 13 minutes (before the miracle shot)?
