Back to back Buck's for Cal Poly

Post by SloStang » Thu Dec 15, 2005 8:07 pm

DE Chris Gocong was awarded the 2005 Buck Buchanan tonight in Chattanoga. The Buchanan is awarded to the best defensive player in I-AA. Chris is following in the footsteps of former Poly player, Jordan Beck, the winner of the 2004 Buck.

Could Cal Poly make it three in a row? Junior linebacker Kyle Shotwell, a second team All-American, finished the 2005 season with 158 tackles, 5 sacks, and 2 interceptions.

It's great to see that the last 3 Buck Buchanan winners have come from the West, the last 2 from Cal Poly and Jared Allen of Idaho St. in 2003. He's playing on Sundays for the Chiefs and he's a good one. Way to go, Mr. Gocong. He's a stud at DE and he was a big reason why Cal Poly advanced to the second round.

GO CATS!

I was watching Sports Center and they said Chris Gocong should be a 2nd/3rd round draft pick. They said that he will be the highest non 1-A selection this year.
